Anyone on here pull a camper across Sam’s Gap on I-26 (TN/NC state line) with your Tacoma? Say a camper around 3000lb-3500lb dry weight. How did the truck do pulling? I figure if I could pull one across Sam’s Gap, I could pull it anywhere we wanted to go.

    Thanks!

I did it with my Jeep (rated for significantly less payload capacity) and it worked out just fine. It was a uhaul enclosed trailer packed to the brim pulling it through the gorge on the east of black mountain

My business partner has a trdor 4Runner and it pulls our 22’ boat just fine. My guess is you’re good

I pulled my 20 ft all steel car hauler home from coeburn across sams gap and it done fine.. also regularly pull a loaded 6x12 cargo trailer across iron mountain which I would consider worse and does just fine.

Do you have trailer brakes? If not and you have a tow package the harness is already under the dash. I bought a tekonsha p3 from e trailer with an adapter harness and it made it plug and play.

I’m sure the camper we buy will, just not bought one yet. The P3 is in my Amazon cart right now, I think I saw the plug under the dash a while back when I was working on lights. The truck also came with the adapter, but the one on Amazon is plug and play.

You won’t be disappointed with the p3 I have one in my tacoma and my 1st gen cummins. I like how you can even select how many axles are on the trailer and if it’s electric or even electric over hydraulic(which I doubt I’ll ever use)

Anyone know anything about these? Are they actual roads (Gaia shows them as high clearance/4wd roads). Going to be hitting Hurricane Creek in a couple weeks and working out way over to Windrock and wanted to do some exploring around the Hurricane creek area.

Is the red trail a road?

    Any intel on these?

Nope people went through it last weekend said there is no gate so that was some rumor I suspect.

I spoke directly with the ranger David Dixie who gave me the gate information. It's possible they were delayed in gating it or the gates were open for some reason. See post: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/hurricane-creek.603300/page-2#post-22181951

Brian, I would recommend calling the Appalachian Ranger District before your trip to verify it's open/closed status . Their number is 828-689-9694.

That's the info I had seen. Yeah don't ride it if there is a question, that's how Richland got shut down. Remember, You drive a Toyota not a Jeep.

Agreed. I just called again. It's technically closed they just haven't closed the gates yet. They'd appreciate everyone staying off it after all the rain we've had lately.
