I've noticed for some reason both of my floorboards seem to always stay wet. It's just the area under the mat and no where else up front. Seems to be just water. Just wondering if anybody else had this issues before I go taking the carpet out, I'm guessing it's a seal leaking rain water in and it never evaporates.

Mine used to do that when I used the AC. My condensation tube was clogged. Water backed up and got on both floor boards. Not sure what else it could be.

I'll check that and see. It been like this for a while just finally figured I should look into it. Don't want the floor rusting out.

Chances are, that is what the problem is. Mine has done it a couple of times.

The tube is on the passenger side. Its silver and makes a 90 to the ground. It pulls out of the grommet fairly easy. You might have to stick a screwdriver or something in the hole to unclog it.

There is a TSB around here some place detailing water leaks on 1st gen Tacoma's. Basically the seams under the wipers leak and the seams under the fenders.

Don't think so, it's isolated under the mats. The upper parts near the firewall, at least on the driver side is dry. I'll try to dig into it on my day off this week. Didn't know if it was common or not.

Mine gets wet mysteriously about one or twice a year. Last week I opened my door and there was about an inch of water in the driver's side floorboard, lucky my amps did not get wet. I am thinking about taking carpet out and bed lining the inside of the cab.

Hey guys I had this problem with my 02 taco I did a write up with pics where the water was coming in. It was the pinch welds under the door seal at the top by the gutter. The next time it rains pull off the pillar trim and you can see water running down the post, along side of the dash behind kick panel and it soaks the insulation under the carpet.I sealed mine and no more wet carpet. I'll see if I can find my write up. I thought it was the windshield also,I had it replaced anyway and when it was out I seen where the water was coming in. Hope this helps wet carpet sucks!!!
