IMG_4747.jpg Hey everyone! I’m part of a subreddit that’s all about wet shaving. Curious if there’s a place for it here

It's like anything else. Tons of different blades, soaps, after shave products, pre shave products, techniques, razors, etc

Been using a Gillette razor since I was 15. Just a few months ago started looking into wet shaving with a Safety razor and surfactant.

Ordered a Viking Blade razor a few months ago. Much different than what I’m used to. Was a decent shave with just a mild blade. Thought I was getting their coarse blades. Ended up ordering some but didn’t try them yet. Ended up getting a stand, brush, and bowl for Xmas. Just haven’t used it yet. Gotta figure out where in my tiny master bedroom bathroom I’m gonna put the stuff.

Under the sink is where I keep all my stuff. Only pull it out on shave days.

I got into it for the saving money purposes. Gillette 5 blade cartridges are crazy expensive, and you can get a box of a 100 blades like I posted for like $20. But with any hobby you want to try different things and end up buying other stuff and blowing the money you're trying to save lol

Exactly how I got into it. Thousand bucks later, there is no looking back. But once you are set up, there are no other costs, it's all up front.

Wet shaving turns a chore into a pleasant ritual. Especially with straight razor, there is a lot of skill involved (not just shaving itself), and the shave can be far better than with any other method

    Cool thread.

I tried a safety razor once and made my face look like hamburger.

    I now just use Harry's.

I used to shave in the shower every morning. Then I realized I could just let it grow. Then I realized I'm terrible at growing a beard. Then I had to buy a trimmer. It's been a whole thing over the last 38 years or so.

Is it just me or do you get more compliments the longer you let it grow?

My wife never knew that was a thing until years ago when we first started dating, only to witness me get compliments at random while out on a date with her.

    No more thread derailing.

    LS1 swap with nitros.
Old school double edge safety razor here. I use feather blades and shave in the shower with soap, shampoo, or some cheap shave gel. I’d bet I spend $10/year on blades if that. Got tired of giving money to those crummy razor companies.
