That's part of the test. I have talked with a friend from UK, she has camped at -17 with a good enough bag and she was OK.

Its all about have a minimum gear that is good enough, and have a backup plan. Or 2 backup plans even better.

I might buy a kettle wood stove just in case. Bags to store hot water. Have a -10 bag, plus a queen size wool blanket.

Have you done this before? What's the gas consumption of an 8-hour idle?

    I have done that b4.
I ended up starting the truck 2x
Slept in the pass. Seat fully reclined in my sleeping bag.
    It was nice.
    Fuel consumption.
    ??? Nothing to worry about.
Would i actually run the truck all night.
Yes. Former diesel guy hear. Its only a machine.

Guess the next best thing would be a diesel heater.

I am still in Ontario , therefore I am allowed to post lol . Hard to believe how big this province is .
If I jumped in my Tacoma now at 7pm , it would take me 30 hours of continous driving before I could stop for a cold beer at the Ontario/ Quebec border and I didnt include piss brakes in the calculation . 6 hours of driving before I hit Manitoba

It really is ridiculous. Orlando is 20hrs from here and no offense, I'd rather drive there.

The vastness of this country incredible , I travelled as far east and west that you can ,,,but not north, someday, if I go directly north form my house to the most northerly land on Ellesmere Island it’s almost 2700 miles , if I go south the same amount ,you are in Columbia South America, :)

@Emanresu did this to dry out his carpeting with the truck's blower. If I remember correctly, about 1/4 tank? That is you actually idle the engine nonstop through the night.

A lot more efficient to run a diesel heater. Be sure to carry diesel appropriate for the temperature, to avoid gelling.

I called the Moose Cree Nation, the phone # at the bottom of the link on the first page. There was a message.
"Moose Cree First Nation is closed to the public until further notice"

Ok that's understandable, I get it. But I'm still hoping a day trip without contact from anyone is possible.

The road also isn't open yet, is it? I imagine the further notice and the road opening will coincide

As much as we are all wanting to get out for trips and runs keep in mind these rural areas are trying to protect themselves during this pandemic, hence the closed to public warnings. I know an innocent day trip with no contact would be fun but could easily turn into possible contact with a break down or badly stuck. The road will be there to travel in the future. Not trying to tell people what to do but we have a duty in the off-road community to respect the areas that we travel.

Flame away, I can take it. Lmao

If we go, we should plan how to avoid contact as much as possible. Keep it to a minimum, sanitize, mask all the time when around locals, even at more than 2 meters.
And if it's best to cancel, that's fine too.

Another thing I would like to discuss is what gear you guys are planning to take.

There is mention to no gas station for 300km, etc...
