Pretty baffled on this one.... Ambient temp sensor appeared to poop itself a few months ago. It was reading -30 here in south Texas then went to a steady — for days. A week or do later I installed K&N CAI (no wise ass remarks please, I only gained 86 HP and 12 mpg, but love the sound) which requires neg battery disconnect to scrub computer memory. After reconnecting, ambient worked again!
Fast forward to last week. I got the low fuel light with 156 miles to empty.... in 15 miles I went frim 1/4 to below empty. Happened again on the next tank. Saying completely empty, and took 13.6 gallons. In addition the ambient crap was happening again. So I pulled the negative on the battery, hooked back up, all fixed again. Sending unit and ambient are back to normal.
Is she just moody because I make her tow so much, or does anybody have a clue why/what is causing this?

no idea, but you may want to take it to dealer to get issue recorded for future protection

Have you done any 'lectrical work? Sounds like some transient voltage is leaking in there somewhere. Other idea... something got wet that wasn't supposed to get wet.

Light bar...and that cheap crap has moisture issues. Enough to cause ground issues you think? And the ambient thing started about the same time light bar pooped. If that’s it you made my day!

I have learned over the years that, when weird shit starts happening to stuff (OEM) that shouldn't have weird shit happening, chances are the cause is something 3rd party.
I can't tell you if its a ground or not as it sounds like maybe you have low power in your ground? Or moisture is causing a funky power issue?
As I said, chances are good that if you undo what you did with that light bar, you will fix those amazing gauge readings.

Does anyone know where the temp sensor is? Mine has read very high in the summer since installing the bamf grill. Not too Fer off in the winter but still a degree or 5 high. In the summer it reads 110 when parked and actual temp is 80

They are not designed to be accurate when stationary, just moving. Too many variables.

I’m sure you’re right. Makes perfect sense. I’ll disconnect the power to the light bar in the morning and see if demons stay away.

About six inches under the hood release.
