Okay, back on topic. I have a couple cargo cases on my roof rack pretty much full time. What I have in them varies depending on the time of year but the stuff that's generally always in them, rachet straps, rope, tow strap, shovel, axe, foldable saw, basic tool set, extra pair of shoes, TP, a foldable 3 leg stool, and a football.

In the truck I have a first aid kit, headlamps, a fleshlight...er....I mean a mag light, blankets, a basic change of clothes, work gloves, zip ties, duct tape...okay this is starting to sound really dark.

Anyway, there's a bunch of other crap in there I'll probably never use but would probably end up needing if I took it out.

Ahh seriousness… now we’re talking! Batteries, flashlight, firestarters, blankets/thermal type to keep the fleshlight warm, mineral water, jerky. Jerky is key!

Yeah one thing I need more of is truck snacks. I have a couple Cliff bars and a bag of mixed nuts. Jerky is a good call.

Maybe? I generally place my vodka in my flesh-light to keep I from freezing over

So far so good. I went with the woman option, but I appreciate the other information.

    Yeah
    Shovel (real, not folding)
    Axe
Silky zubat 330 (folding saws really suck when you actually need a saw)
    Flashlights
    20’ 1” kinetic recovery rope
    200’ 1/2” 16 strand rope
    Massdam rope puller
2 blocks and slings for them
Multiple soft shackles and an axle hook
Tire repair & inflation tools (I have air on board)
    Lighter & fire starting stuff
    Basic hand tools
    Water
    4 MRE’s

everything but the 200’ of rope and the massdam rope puller resides in the truck at all times, those 2 items along with some extra blankets and warm coats get put in for outings or even just when snow is expected.

Depending when, where, and how I travel this is typically in my truck. I am not self-sufficient in terms of recovery, and have some time to wait until a front bumper and winch are in the cards therefore if I go out alone it's places I know I won't get stuck.

    - Air compressor to accommodate what size tires you have
    - Zip ties
    - Shovel
    - Basic tools
    - Tire patch kit
    - Dried food for a few days
    - Some sort of stove and fuel (Primus, GSI, or MSR Pocket Rocket stove and canisters are great, they won't depressurize in Washington unless you reach some serious altitude mid-winter)
    - Water
    - Sleeping bags at over-kill temperatures, preferably synthetic because it retains warmth when wet. To save weight and space, get a bag meant for warmer temps and get a proper fleece liner like Sea To Summit Reactor liners.
    - Wool socks and baselayers
    - Rain coat
    - First aid kit
    - TP
    - Hunting knife
    - Recovery strap
    - Ratchet straps/paracord/cargo net
