What’s my Tacoma worth?

Hey all I’ve been recently thinking about selling my 1st gen Tacoma. Prices on Facebook and Craigslist are all over the place. So I’m wondering if I can get some opinions on values and what the community thinks it’s worth.

It’s a 2004 double cab 4x4 in red. About 87k miles on it. Bone stock. Interior is fairly mint. No rips or tears on anything. The only issues are the pain on the hood and roof is faded and the rear slider window’s hook is broken.

0 rust on the car and I believe frame was done. I didn’t do the timing belt yet but it’s on my todo list if I keep it. I believe I’m the 2nd owner according to carfax.

Lmk if you need anymore info to help with a value. Thanks in advance for all your time!IMG_2907.jpg

Man, that’s a pretty sweet truck! It would probably be worth seeing about getting the hood and roof repainted and the window fixed. With that low mileage, you don’t want any blemish keeping you from commanding top dollar.

If I kept it I was planning on repainting both. Or maybe repainting the roof and finding a good condition used Hood since that might be cheaper than a paint job.

Thanks for the response. Can I ask why that number? I’m just curious since when I post it for any high number I’m sure I’ll have a lot of people asking me where i came up with it.

I think there was the 2.7 option. Mine is the V6.

Do the timing belt as soon as possible. The recommendation is 90,000 miles OR 9 years, whichever comes first. You're 12 years overdue.

There's a small chance a timing belt snapping can take the motor out, and that will bring your value down far more than the $400 it costs for an OEM timing belt kit.

And any savvy buyer will drop their offer $1000-1500 when you disclose the timing belts never been done. Furthermore, once that buyer knows youve never done the timing belt they're going to start looking for issues that much harder.

lol makes sense. I’ve seen them all over the place as high as 30k in some markets which i think is kinda crazy they also have over 100k miles. 1st gen values are really hard to nail down.

I do have the time belt on my list of to-do’s. Right at the top. I’m looking around for a shop to do it. I’m not horrible with tool but at the same time I really dont want to mess it up. IDK if it’s within my scope to do.

Couple months. The 4th gen has been calling to me. But IDK if it would be a big mistake to sell the 1st gen for a 4th gen.

So I just did this. The $30k ones have been fully restored and are outliers. They don't count.

yours is probably worth around $16-18k assuming no rust. Don't know how much double cab adds.

my total loss went back and forth a bit with insurance, but settled on $13k for my 1996 with low mileage mostly because it had a couple dings and bad paint. It was about $2k less than I wanted but didn't know about one of the dings. Someone must've hit me and I forgot about it. Had to review security footage to verify it had been there that morning before my accident.
