Still all in my head… but I’m keeping the chrome bumper!

Ok, this noise is driving me bat shit crazy! When my fan is on inside my cab I hear “a funny squeaky noise” and it seems to come from whatever vent I listen to. Almost like a squeaking belt, low volume, goes away when I turn the fan off. Sometimes stops, usually when I ask someone if they hear it… so now my truck is gaslighting me too. Anyone have this on their “all this shit that’s wrong with my F’n truck but I still love it” list? Any fixes? Hope everyone is having a solid day/night.

I've got all sorts of noises to get used to driving my Tacoma. None of which I mind, as long as they are it's "normal and expected "noises. I figure getting to know all of it's different noises helps to identify when there's an abnormal one. I'll keep an ear out for this one and see if I can add it to my bingo card.

Mine is so quiet I could hear a mouse fart

Just kidding and actually probably not the smartest thing to do but I try not to listen for every little noise. I don’t think there is a car made that doesn’t make funny sounds here and there. I know when driving down the street it’s pretty darn quiet with no rattles that I can hear. Never really heard anything out of my vents but haven’t listened that closely.
My suggestion to you my friend is turn up the radio and enjoy your taco even more :D

I heard this story when I was a kid on a side note and fruit for thought. But it was in the 70’s when they first started putting those steel 5 mph safely bumpers on cars. There was a guy that had a GM can’t remember but obviously a Pontiac , Chevy or a Buick. He had a rattle he could hear in the front end when driving down a bumpy road with radio off. Well he took it in and evidently one of Assembly line workers put a bottle inside the bumper with a note that said I hope this rattle drives you nuts

The noise my fan makes is more like one of the blades is touching making a tick tick tick sound. Like when debris is in the fan ductwork. And only on low speed. Or the sound is imperceptible on higher fan speeds due to the sound of blowing air. No way am I going to dismantle my dash to troubleshoot the noise.

I had something similar, it was a pine needle in the blower fan. If you empty the glove box, remove the cabin air filter cover piece on the back wall, removed the filter. You'll be able to see the fan. Make sure nothing is in there. Get a vacuum attachment in there if you have too.

That was the one thing that I did try. I have two big maple trees in my yard and some pine trees. I thought for sure I'd find some of those little 'helicopter' seed pods or pine needles in there. It's an easy inspection so no harm in taking another look.

Right on! I’ll report back after I give that a try. I hope you all can find a way to rest peacefully until I get this resolved. :D

This ^^^^^I’ve heard the blower motors have issues and can be the cause of various issues/noises. I’ll do some digging and see what I can find. In the meantime, crank up the volume on the stereo.

Between the TRD cat-back and the sound system I can't hear much else. :lalala:
