Doing Anything requires a plan and a backup plan.

You get stuck outside your house without a jacket taking out the trash and the door locks behind you and the wife is at work and you don’t have your phone in your pocket? You’re in real trouble bud.

Plenty of articles to substantiate the claim (first three I found):

100% on this! I still can’t believe how many people live in a winter hell but have nothing extra in their truck/cars to keep them alive in case of anything bad happening.

Mylar emergency blanket. Cheap. Comes folded up about the size of a deck of cards. Keep it in your glove box or center console. Mylar reflects 90% of your body heat back to you. One year I bought a 12- pack of these and gave them away for Christmas stocking stuffers.

Have you used one in the cold? Condensation builds up quickly on the inside and you get soaked. They are a good emergency tool but once you unwrap yourself and have to move anywhere you are now soaking wet and it's going to be a bad day.

SSO hybrid bumper, Warn winch, RCI skid trilogy, RRW sliders, everything in the cheap/free mods thread, and of course the frame recall work.
Coldest has been for me with the Taco was was about 240K. Ran fine but made a lot of squeaking sounds from dash, and even now at closer to 260K it rides very solid. I worry most about blowing the shocks apart on trails at these temps.

-17°f last year. Headed for a call around 3am, fortunately I live 1500’ from my station so I can give it a few to warm up and still beat the rest of the crew.

Ditto! I live in LA (Lower Alabama) and it got down to 34F the other morning and the the display on my 2020 TRDOR flashed: "please don't back me out of the garage into that cold weather!" But, against its pleading I did it anyway and it did get up to 50F by the middle of the day so the Taco didn't stay pissed off long! Seriously, I admire you cold-weather Taco owners and the majority of your posts testify to what a great ride we have!

No bad will ever come from 34F degree weather (aside from maybe ice on the road)! My '88 4Runner still starts and runs like a charm if I plug it in at -40F. Hoping the Tacoma proves as reliable.

And the south Island is the only place in Canada where you can find a GOOD Canadian winter! :D
