What’s the coldest your truck has ever been?

It will sound like a super weather survivor story, but -0F and below temps aren't bad if the wind and snow isn't blowing. If the wind is blowing forget it. I tell people at work that this is why the wagon trains kept going west.

 

I was waiting for that. Truck is bone stock as well. Lot of factors...

Winter fuel mix
lots of idle to warm up
short commute (5 mins)
freakin cold

Never got great mileage in the first place. Can get 12-14 in the summer months.

Yep it’s clear skies and -1. Very mild here. Moved here 10 years ago but I miss the snow from a real Canadian winter.

 

Another beautiful Canadian morning in the books. That's -26f (Feels like -49f) for the American's among us. Truck starts just fine however I do plug it in as there is noticeably less strain upon start up. Clutch gets damn stiff at these temps though. My left leg will be buff if this weather sticks around for long.

It happens when you start and driving very short distance - shitty number like that will show up.

it probably doesn't sound too cold to most of you, but in texas that's cold. supposed to get colder this we.

I did this in soviet built car at the same temps. No block heaters..

 

After -20°C it doesn't matter one bit, it all feels the same when it gets that cold. ​

 

I’d like to feel how cold -20 -40 F feels. Lowest mine has been is 9 degrees F but I only have proof of 13 degrees.

 

At the moment the ambient air temperature is -23f. I live in Northern Minnesota. My truck lives outside. I have never asked about the dealer anti freeze. Do I need to worry? The battery was nearly dead today. The engine did not start. Only a minimal click from the solenoid. Maybe a block heater of some kind was called for.
What should I do?

 

I would put in a battery blanket and a block heater, that's what I run. Plug those in for at least 4 hours and it will start like on a summer day.

 

My truck is currently a sad icicle. VA doesn’t get too cold but always ice rains in the winter here.

It started & bitched about for 20 minutes with the transmission & power steering howling due to very cold fluids

 

While my personal record is -40, my truck's record used to be the Ouray-to-Durango run. 12 degrees.




Until today. Who woulda guessed that my Texas driveway would beat that?
