Dont consider most things people do as a mod. If it bolts directly on or if it is designed and sold to exact fit its not a mod. So like replacing the stickers, plasti dipping your emblems, swapping chrome out for black, putting dividers in your center counsel. Etc etc .
If you buy it and slap it on or if you pay Joes shop to bolt it on. Thats what it is a bolt on. If you make it, or you modify it to fit then call it a mod.
Its the same thing in the motorcycle community everyone says I have a custom bike but what they have is a bike with all the available bolt on accesories or upgrades its not a modded bike.
Now I am not ripping on anyone you do you but dont put seat covers on and change the trd stickers to neon green and make a youtube video called my top two mods lol.

And nothing wrong with the pro grille I like it and its on my new taco as of Monday but thats because I like it and really dont care if joe does

Lol. The Tennessee tilt, Carolina squat. I’ve seen more Hyundai Santa Cruz than I’ve seen squatted trucks around here.

It works a lot better if you move the lanyard attachment from the inner hole to the outer hole, as shown in the pic you quoted.

    DIY Fabricobbler.

You are absolutely right if said Taco owner was on the distressed bandwagon.

I was just making the association between the silliness with how far people go these days with the level of fake, just to look some part.

Is it to gain social acceptance? I really just don't get it.

People can't just be true to themselves, and do things that accomplish a real task.

One fad leads to another and with those, we have those that "do", and those that "look" like they do. Easy enough to spot the difference.

Well for what it’s worth not many around here want to talk about the accessories they’ve garnished their truck with. I agree, a mod should require, drilling, cutting, welding, extra parts and pieces leftover, and/or lots of head scratching. But some things are easy and permanent, like all the meso vent rings, had to cut off the old ring, so I guess that’s a real mod?

All the racks, tents, camping tools and gas cans attached all the time when the person doesn’t even know where to find a trail.
I get it if all that stuff is used on a regular basis, but to carry it around for looks just bugs me.

I see an SR5 now and then with huge TRD Pro bedside decals which were made for the Tundra. That's the closest a mod has come to annoying me. Most mods I've seen I would never do to my truck. But they don't bother me.

This is about to be illegal in NC. Three infractions = revoked license for a year.
