Born and raised in America, but not a patriot because of it. I support most decisions we make, but I don't LOVE the country. I think its better than most though

If it were me, and I found a country I thought better, I would look into immigrating to it. But that’s just me.

Its not as easy when you're 34 and have a secure job etc. I lived in Australia for awhile and loved it, but I was also 28 and its a lot easier at that age immigration wise. I do have a job that would easily crossover, but my family is here so here I stay

Anyone who puts different floor mats or a bed mat on their “build” or “mod” list.

Getting WeatherTech floor mats or the Toyota bed mat is not a mod.

Raptor lights themselves don't bother or excite me. Whatever people want to do to their truck is none of my concern, where I get bothered is the approach people take to selecting some of their mods.

The level of excitement and obsessive need people seem to have for a mod kit that costs $25 and takes 20 minutes to install though... Kind of reminds me of how freaked out everyone got about plasti-dip 10 years ago, and probably in 3-5 years "raptor lights" will be so played out that Ford will take them off of the Raptor.

Also, the posts (more common on the fb groups, especially the T4R group I'm in lately) in the mold of:

"What's the best lift kit?" (without any mention of what kind of driving they're looking to do)

    or

"Just bought a 2021 TRD Pro Package, would Icon Stage 6 be a good enough lift (not going to wheel it)?" (really? you're looking to sink $80k into a mall crawler that'll be hard to drive on pavement?)

Diamondback covers are a functional modification that add security for items placed in your bed that you don't want stolen and also provide excellent water seal to keep items dry. If you want to carry a large item in the front or rear side of bed the locking covers slide off at the hinge taking about ten seconds to remove and allow for items taller than the cover. If you need the whole bed the four braces that attach the center part of the cover to the bed can be taken off in less than ten minutes. My Diamondback HD can support +1700 pounds on top of it for items like my CVT RTT or other heavy bulky items on my Front Runner bars mounted to it.

Compare that to more traditional roll or fold up tonneau covers that offer little security, usually leak to some degree and whose main contribution is aerodynamic smoothing for the bed. As for the expense... buy once cry once, or settle for a piece of Naugahyde or thin extruded aluminum.

I rate the current likelihood of thread lock at 40%.

Back to annoying mods: anything that doesn’t get used for its intended purpose.

So that’s the only choices? An $1800 diamondback or Naugahyde? lol
Depends on your mission, lots of good choices. 10 seconds for the hinged cover and 10 minutes to remove the whole thing huh? ;)
I can have my Lomax Pro off and on the ground in less than a minute, no tools required, one of the reasons I chose it. We buy what we need and like, just wanted to tease you diamondback guys.

I was waiting on you guys to show up, didn’t disappoint. :D

Naw, more like $2000 delivered. Ten seconds to remove one end of the cover? Yes, absolutely.

    Glad to oblige!

    Agreed. 100%

Yep, you can get a "Home Depot Pro" 4' x 8' sheet of Luan and secure it to your bed rails with drywall screws, too. (But it will take considerably more than a minute to have it off and sitting on the ground, tools required):D

    Agreed. Understood. Back at you.

Hate the mall crawlers all you want. But they stimulate the offroad industry.

If only people who offroaded ( actually offroaded, not just fire roads and insta pics) bought lifts and other offroad accessories the market would be a fraction of what it is. Reduced scale would mean increased production costs and the end result would be increased cost to the true die hard 'wheeler.

The reduced market would also remove the drive for innovation / R&D.

The posers crack me up, but they have their use

It's not really hating, but it does confound me as an analytical thinker. The other version of it that I find truly baffling is the mall crawler who's asking if they got a "good deal" on the installation labor for their $10k lift kit on the TRD Pro truck they just paid $60k to buy ($10k of that cost being in the high-end stock suspension); if you want a good deal, buy the SR5 for $45k so you're replacing less expensive equipment a month into owning it, the installation labor will only cost you 10% of the money you've just saved...

I get that those guys reduce the unit cost of a lot of this stuff for those who intend to actually use it, but it's still baffling to see someone dropping as much for cosmetic mods into their "grocery getter" as I'd planned to spend building my trail rig; when there's an engine as durable as Toyota out there, it doesn't make a lot of sense to me to bounce an $80k rig off of rocks and trees when a $25k one will get the job done just as well (unless you need the truck to be able to drive itself out of the tough spots for you).

    I agree with you completely.

Funny thing, I just bought a Bare bones SR 4x4 because I plan on upgrading pretty much everything that makes the TRD the TRD, other than the drive mode crap that I dont want / need

    1) Pretty much all aftermarket wheels (extra points if you put MT tires on like 20+ inch wheels)
    2) Color-matching EVERYTHING (grill emblem, interior knobs, etc)
    4) Any bed rack that is lower than the cab height (you've effectively ruined the whole point of the truck bed, IMO)
    5) Prinsu rack - just doesn't look good to me compared to anything Thule or Yakima make, for example.
    6) Stuffing +size tires without a PROPER lift
    7) Pointless light bars everywhere
