Couldn’t you just drive with the flow of traffic and not have any issues? Also wouldn’t it only be off by 2-5mph at highway speeds?

Some of us don't just go places where there is enough traffic to have a flow to go with. But yes, that will work for a mall crawler in heavily populated areas who only goes out during the day...

so your incapable of doing math or you’re afraid of getting pulled over for speeding in the trails?? I’m confused as to why 2-5 mph is going to get someone pulled over.

Coming from a second gen (07), I use the grab handle almost everyday. I still own the 07. Got a 2021 and it does felt weird without a handle. I end up installing one because I’m so used to it.

This is a BS thread, firefox just does not give me the option for emojis on my phone. Now, back to tongue in cheek BS.

People with oversized tires cannot do math, I run undersized tires and have no problem with the math (need to save money on gas). But, only a city boy would think trails are the only place without traffic, most highways I drive on lack enough traffic to have flow. That, and small town cops in the South love to write tickets for a few mph over the limit in the quarter mile stretch of highway where for no explicable reason the speed limit is 30 mph.

There's a reason for that section being posted slower. It's so the county can raise money off people passing through who drive 35 in a 30 zone. Lots of rural places do that to supplement taxes; try driving through half the country with CA plates sometime...

I got a ticket for going 37 in a 35 in CA with Arkansas plates, 2 cars with CA plates in front of me driving the same speed.

I don't understand the trend of taking off perfectly good fender flares and leaving a bunch of holes exposed. I've seen one person fill the holes with what looked like sheetrock screws. You look like a high school kid (no offense to HS kids).

Interesting take. I like it & you make some good points. If only the costs of the resulting products went down more as a result. I think the industry realizes there's alot of suckers out there who will buy anything "overland" related just because they saw it on Instagram. There's alot of wool to be fleeced from these people lol

Well put. As a dual citizen myself, it's pretty easy to compare my two countries after having lived in each of them for large portions of my life. Like you said, I think more Americans should travel abroad more often to gain some perspective.

The part I don't understand about the jingoistic, hyper patriotic attitude is why you would wouldn't want to criticize the things wrong with your own country in an effort to work to make it better for everyone living there.

Frankly, I think that's the most patriotic thing you can do for your country - try to make it better for every other fellow American. I say that after having spent some time in Iraq looking for for yellowcake for Uncle Sam myself.

I agree with you on the price not being ideal for the overlanding stuff.

My favorite is the "adventure shovel" for 3x what the same shovel would cost at home depot

Aftermarket fender flares with stock width tires. Especially on 3rd gens, makes the "I always skip leg day" look of 3g ever worse.
