Still had to use brakes alot every time, and smoked them everytime. These roads are very steep and very windy.

Interesting. I used to be all for slotted rotors until I watched an Engineering Explained video which basically made it seem like drilled, slotted, or both were almost pointless and that real brake performance comes from the increased mass/surface area of the rotor, a vented rotor (common on all disks now), and pads. There are some people in the comments of that video who state slotted rotors helped a lot. So, idk. Rewatching that video now, haha.

I also changed my mind on engine breaking, all the time on the road in a sports car, when I watched a Scotty Kilmer video on the matter. He basically summarized that brakes a a lot cheaper to replace than a transmission. That being said, I still engine brake in conjunction with braking while going down mountains. It still has it's place in extreme circumstances, but I used to be that guy engine braking everywhere for no reason in a car or on a bike.

    few things here and there.
Whoever said a “lockable hitch” was annoying either A. Doesn’t tow, or B. Doesn’t live down south. Down here they’ll jack that shit while you’re in Walmart without blinking an eye.

reason 4829 why I hate crackheads.

I don't get people shitting on lifts. Sure blocks and spacers aren't great but a true lift goes a long way for real offroading. Skill can get you far but your approach and departure angles are hard limits and a 3" lift that can improve those by 15+ degrees seems like a no-brainer for anyone with the money and that hits the trail once in a while.

    Just my 2 cents

The problem with suspension spacer lifts is that instead of the max travel hitting bottoming out on the frame/bump stop, the truck will bottom out on the damper. This will bend/break the "i" of the shock.

You're totally right. My argument was for true lifts with proper springs, shocks, ucas and lcas ect. but I'm seeing people on here angry about lifts in general. People will really find anything to get mad about.

Listen @Borracho Loco, with your voodoo blue lame shackles and tow hitch you never use….. I actually wanted a blue truck but couldn’t get one and settled for any color as long as it was an OR mt. Have fun with you nipple rings. Ps. Do you have a set of blue truck nuts hanging from the spare? Cuz you should. :D

If you live in the mountains, you should learn to drive in the mountains. Don't ride your brakes, there's no reason they should overheat. Your automatic transmission is just as capable of manual downshifting as a stick...

    My least favorite popular mods:

    1. Leveling lifts. The factory rake serves a purpose as a pre-load rake, meaning it's designed so that you can load the bed and not have the truck point upwards. Doing a leveling lift is basically saying "I'll never use my truck to haul anything significant".

    2. Step bars. I get the fact that some people have kids and short girlfriends, but it's basically a reduction in ground clearance on a truck designed to maximize ground clearance. It's especially funny when paired with skid plates, recovery gear or the like.

    3. Raptor lights. Basically, lights that serve no function other than to say "I wish I was a Raptor".

    4. Differential Drop Lift. Not popular but I see it from time to time. I don't even know where to begin with this. If you want a lift but don't ever leave the highway I guess?
