Try aluminum? I think rubber may be to flexing? I like the stiffness of my Tufskins….if any gets rip off while off roading? Then I will remove them all and put them back on for Safety checks only? Once a year.

I notice for myself , backing up in hole , ditch, boulders , it pushes the mud flaps to the tire, then you hear a ripping noise..one mud flap gone.

Anyone lose a mud flap in forward motion? I guess falling in a hole could push the mud flaps to the tires?
    Aloha

We used to run soft flexible mudflaps on our trucks for the Central American jungle and drill a hole on the lower rear fender behind the flap and run a short chain to the mudflap to keep it from being sucked into the tread and pulled up when backing up.

Now I have my rocker panels sprayed with rock guard

What a great idea, using chains on the rear of mud flaps from reaching the threads of the tires. Just wondering what’s happen when reversing? Will the chains get torn off ? I can see driving forwards the flapping muds has a stopper…
    A nice idea for sure.

Making mud flaps removable maybe a better idea for off roading. Maybe a two parts upper and lower , where the lower portion can be easy to remove?

Saw a video of a person installing the RokBlokz mud flaps . I notice it look like the same material ( mud flaps) as Tufskins? The RobBlokz package offer more nuts and bolts, more slots and a bit pricey then Tuff skins?
both look great! Both are easy to install, there was NO need to remove tires. Unless your tires sitting to close?
My 2019 2.5 lift w/32’s able to install the mud flaps without removing the tires.

Ok, Driving today 99% of the 3d Gens Tacoma in Kona , Hawaii , had NO mud flaps! I think our local Toyota dealers orders them without? Due to cost savings? 99% of the lifted Tacomas NO mud flaps? We have only one Toyota dealer on the Big Island , who owns both locations ( independent) Hilo & Kona, Hawaii.
As for other types of 4x4 pick-ups, a mixture, but it look like the full size trucks had more with mud flaps?

For those who love there mud flaps, great. But once you get them torn or rip off? You may change you mind?
    Aloha

I plan to eventually replace my factory mudguards with the Rokblokz since they are a bit more flexible and will give a bit offroading. The plastic factory ones are fine for normal road driving and I like how they look and protect from rocks flying up. But they suck for offroad and I only go on easier trails.

Interesting, always thought the factory mud flaps to be softer and flexible? The Tufskins and RokBokz seems to me stiffer, that is why I like them more.
But I have no way to compare today?

Do you have the factory ones on your 2019? Mine are just hard plastic pieces that look good but have zero give. Everytime I hit them on a trail I think "oh that rock wasn't that big. Oh wait, mud flaps!".

Are the ones you have more of a flexible rubber? That is what I want.

My 2019 TRD never came with mud flaps. Just last week, I added the Tufskins on the rears to get my safety check , I passed. Not sure if I will put the fronts on?

I have NO idea how stiff the factory mud flaps are today. Now my 1986 Toyota P/U , the mud flats were more rubber, softer? Got rip off that same year. Sold in 1987. First year of IFS. Cost was $13,000.

So is it true that loud laughter is discouraged when drinking Hawaiian coffee?

I've only ever heard a low Ha.
