I thought it might be a cup holder but there’s no bottom. What is it?F0A14072-0C67-45C0-8D10-0BF75C89CFE0.jpg

Can still be a cupholder without a bottom? If the cup has any type of angle to it, the friction/shape will seat it in the hole

There’s two legs visible in the photo thru the cup holder holes that swing down.

Edit: pretty sure your hand is literally touching one of the legs

    That’s a cup holder.

If you want proof Toyota doesn’t know how to engineer cup holders, go look at the square cup holder on your center console.

Should have got a double cab. My rear cup holders work well and I use them from the drivers seat (in addition to the front ones). If only I had a prerunner, I'd have MORE CUPHOLDERS!

I felt that way when I started seeing that square shape in the new Camry and Avalons. I recently read a description that refers to that particular shape as a "Smartphone Holder". Go Figure.

I thought the that it folds out so you can put a car seat there when you fold the bench seat up. It makes the seat longer and allows the car seat to sit better. But the holes themselves make decent cup holders, better than nothing.

I asked for taco holders, needless to say, Yota screwed that up.

My 2000 Tacoma has one of those, the legs fold down and the large cooler cups fit perfectly.

    Too many…
It’s a cup holder and it’s also used for kids car seats.

Off-subject but I've been dying to know what that little square deally is for on the prerunner console nearest the passenger's left leg?

I guess if it’s a “cup holder” it gets a pass. I’m a can guy though.

I stood it up with the legs extended. I can’t understand why there’s no bottom.

This is my first Taco so I really thought there was a cup holder that fit into the square hole that maybe the previous owner forgot to give me. That’s seriously the cup holder? Why would any sane person design that. I’ve traveled extensively in Japan. They drink things over there as well.
