I do this all the time... Typically because I know there's more to come... When the thought finally reaches from my "brain" to my "fingers"... To finish the thought. I do often find myself doubting the punctuation, mainly in work related documents where I'm trying to sound smarter than I actually am.

 

I’m not an engineer, but I spent about 10 years working for an engineering company doing assessments and writing reports concerning electrical systems.

The corporate MO was “try to sound smarter than you actually are”. It becomes a skill, and an art. Hard to pull it off in person mind you.

 

If we type like this....and maintain a steady dialogue... it’s like jogging side by side and trying to explain a book...while being out of breath just slightly...

 

Pretty much what we do also. Every time I've tried to Bullshit lately our engineer has backed me up, means I'm getting better at guessing with vague yet specific explanations.

Omg you people. I hope you know, when I’m locking eyes with you after your “explanations”, I’m basically saying that I know you don’t actually know what you’re telling me.

The head engineer at the company only held the position because he was a master bullshitter. The best I ever met. He had almost no understanding of the issues we were dealing with, but could turn the smallest issue into a goldmine of engineering studies and expensive equipment replacements. It was a company rumour that he could convince you your long-dead grandma’s coffin needed to be replaced ASAP.

 

Did he wear a felt hat too? Short of the electrical part, I think you worked for the same company I do. Also plausible that there are many companies like that.
