CBD2C50A-E2FA-45D0-908F-D11395BEE78E.jpg Suzuki drz-400. Can find a relatively good conditioned one for about 3,000. Cheap to insure, will take you anywhere, and cost 3 dollars to fill up. I like to scoot back and forth to work on it when its nice out.

I'd have a mechanic you trust go over any of those cars really thoroughly before you buy. The segment you're shopping in is prone to alot of 18-24 year old guys who don't know how to take care of shit and just want to be extras in the next fast and furious movie. Also familiarize yourself with known WRX issues. There are some catastrophic failures that can happen with those motors

Besides that, you'd have fun in anything you listed. Also consider looking for an MR-S, I had one alongside my tacoma for the first couple years and they're a ton of fun to drive. Mk6 GTIs might be in your price range as well, and they're exceptional, and very practical. Also, older used M3s, etc, but you may not want something with super high mileage for a daily.

Anybody who bitches about anything on a Tacoma has never had one of these for a DD.

Daily drivers "and/or" builds usually don't play well together. I see you're choosing newer vehicles so that puts you at an advantage, but you'll soon find that if you mod A then you'll need to mod B, which will make C burn out so you change D, E, and F to prevent bad stuff just to watch G fail. It gets... expensive.

The only car I like on your list is the WRX. But, I think you should go for an old 60s or 70s European car... a MG or VW. Aaron Kauffman races an old Ford Fairlane up Pike's Peak... it's original, unique, and so bad ass.

I'd lean toward the WRX (nothing about it in particular, I just like them).

Like Jibbs said, definitely get it looked over before buying. Better to lose a little money on an inspection than to lose a lot of money fixing everything that the previous owner messed up.

Having owned a 04 sti for like 4 years I wouldn't recommend them. Especially bug eyes which is part of the year you're interested in. The 5 speed in bug eyes are fairly weak, and I'm not a fan of the boxer motor themselves. I personally wouldn't spend over 5k for a miata either, unless those listed has a hardtop

Get an MK6 Golf 6-speed TDI, plenty of aftermarket support. I loved mine, but let VW buy it back.

I think the 2004 Grand Cheroke is going to become my DD or my brothers 2001 Accord and sell the Cheroke.

Heres my deal though. Why do you want another build car? It takes money away from your truck mods.
You said you wanted a DD to take miles off the Taco and save on gas money.

Well gas is cheaper than another car, additional liability insurance, more maint items on a new car, let alone all that with mods.

I would vote the Civic. But don’t mod it. Spend the money on the truck.

I’m hoping after a beater as a DD for a bit my next vehicle is an F150.
I want a real truck again.
The Tacoma will become the DD Toy.
