The only reason I would trade is for the next new model. Toyota pickups haven’t disappointed me since 1977. They have there quirks but, each generation has been better than the last. My 2019 is the best one yet.

Should have just done a couple donuts and tore out of there, but nope you went the easy way and just tried to reverse.

No 3rd gen or manual here, but when ever I drove something with a manual I don't think I ever let the clutch all the way out. This never seemed like the right way to reverse. Is it the right way?

I almost always slip the clutch in reverse. Then again I’m only ever in reverse for all of about 10 yards.

1991 Dodge Dakota with a 36mo/36Kmi warranty. I bought it new. Cam gear shattered at 10MPH starting off in traffic.
Truck had 17,000 miles but was in it's 37th month. Dodge dealer said no to warranty claim and no to 'goodwill' warranty that I requested. Same refusal from the district rep that I appealed to, except he was very nasty like someone pissed in his corn flakes that morning. Dealer quoted me $6,000 to repair. I called my own tow truck and when they saw it arrive, they shit, ran after me and said the first estimate was 'worst case scenario' and it was probably more like $3500-$4000. I told them to get lost, and as the tow was loading it, a mechanic came over and offered me a personal business card and said he could do it at his home garage for $2500. I told him where to put his business card.

Took it to a different dealer, one in my hometown that had only opened after I bought from the first dealer. He was very nice, said that since it was in their computer as a warranty refusal, he couldn't warranty it, but he said that since 6 people from my job had bought trucks from him since he opened, he would try something but I'd have to leave it there for an extended time.

Two weeks later he calls me and says to come down at the end of the day, they are running and test driving the truck, and says there's no charge. I go down, it's fixed, and there's no charge. At first they wouldn't say why, but then someone spilled the beans and said they had waited until someone came in with the same engine model and was at the end of their warranty and they put my new engine on their repair ticket. I went around and handed everyone involved, 5 people, a $100 bill.

NEVER AGAIN ANY DODGE, RAM, CHRYSLER ANYTHING.

I grew up in a Chrysler family. I will never get back all those days we were stuck on the side of the road. They were all complete trash, every last one. Jeep patriot, Cherokee lorado, Sebring, PT Cruiser, all the mini vans, dodge Dakota, Pacifica, Intrepid, Journey, Liberty. They were all crap. Soo bad. I mean we had 7 different minivans between 1990-2005. Every last one Auto trans or engine failure.

This is why I don’t buy used vehicles any longer (haven’t since my early 20’s). Every single time, I ended up buying someone else’s problems. I buy them new, and pretty much drive them until they’re dead or not practical.

Still have my longest running vehicle I’ve bought new. A 2002 Jeep Liberty Sport. It’s been the biggest pain in the ass I’ve ever owned. Every single year since the warranty expired, it’s needed $1000-$1500 in some sort of repair or another (not maintenance, repairs). Kept it, because the wife liked it and it was still practical for us. Both kids have driven it (youngest still is). I’ve already warned her, that it’s already had it’s last major repair. Anything that costs more than $500, it’s off to the junk yard.

Seriously, yes the truck moves quick in reverse, but the only time I every have any issues is when I am backing a trailer.

I think some folks should find an empty parking lot and practice whipping this truck around.

I have sort of a love-hate relationship thing going with this truck. It’s mostly love, but there are a few quirky things about it that bug me - none of them really the trucks fault.

I drove a Tundra for almost twelve years and absolutely loved it. Loved everything about it except for the mileage. Didn't need all that size and power anymore so I switched to the Taco and now I catch myself missing all that size, comfort and power and on occasion blaming the Taco because it doesn’t have it.

It’s sorta like when your favorite dog dies so you get another one to try to replace him but it never works out because the new dog isn’t the old dog and he has a personality, habits, and quirks all his own so you just have to relearn to love him for what he is and not dislike him for what he isn’t.

My 2014 Nissan versa cvt transmission started to fail so I got rid of it the next day and bought a 2018 tacoma.
