First two fill ups after changing the 04's plugs and wires and cleaning the MAF I've gotten 19.5 mpg per tank. A lot of that was highway miles but I was also going 75-80 mph which usually kills the fuel economy in these trucks.

I'll keep logging the economy data on Fuelly.com to see if this is going to be a permanent increase in mpg's. Or at least until winter gas hits the pumps.

I’m also going to see if changing the diff fluids help at all.

My 02 dbl cab 3.4v6 is a automatic....I normally average 14-16mpg depending on if I get on the highway.
    I had a 91 v6 5spd manual that averaged about the same.
The mileage sucks for a small truck but I live close to work so never really bothered me to bad.

I run slightly smaller e-loads than you. I'm aware some of my fuel economy is robbed due to them, but this is news to me as far as fuel economy goes. What ring and pinion size did you go with over the OE size, and what is you guys' OE size ring and pinion?

He has factory 4.30 gears I believe.
I get about the same depending on the city/highway mix with 285/75r16 E rated tires on 4.88 gears.
    I have the 2.7L 4cyl though.

Right, they need a higher gear ratio the take advantage of their 4 bangers. Makes sense. So you guys upped your gear ratio a little bit over OE. What sort of average increase did you guys see over what you were currently getting? 14 vs. 15.5? (Example)

I had 4.30's before. Since going to the 4.88's, my mileage hasn't changed too much really. I've also added more weight to it since changing gear ratios, so that doesn't exactly help the cause.
Fortunately it's not my daily driver anymore so I don't worry too much about the mpg these days.

@betterbuckleup spot on with the 4.30's. Not sure what to expect at the moment, others with 3.4L with 4.30 's and a 5 speed have reported MPG increases when going to 4.88. But each case is different as builds are different. I'm just looking forward to a power increase, climbing up inclines on the freeway suck and I find myself in 4 lo more often offroad.

2001 v6 w/ 260k miles 4.10 gears and 265/75/16R AT tires. I see as much as 22 on the highway. I do about half highway and half street driving so I avg. around 16-20 depending on how heavy my foot is or how hilly the area is. Pretty happy considering its a 20 y/o v6 truck engine.

In your profile pic you have 3rd gen T4R limited wheels. With those size tires are you getting any rubbing at full lock?

I just put this wheels on with 265/75 r16 tires and get a bit of rubbing at full lock when turned to the right only. Makes me think a camber alignment could get rid of that. But curious to hear your experience.

Yes i do rub a little bit at full lock when turned right and left. Never got an alignment after the new setup though as I was going to get the ome lift kit and was waiting till then but I never pulled the trigger. Its not too bad though.

Im in the same boat. I normally always get an alignment after putting new tires on but I also know that I’ll be doing the suspension here in the next few weeks, hopefully. So I might just wait.

Although I am doing a small road trip next week so I’m a bit nervous wearing the new tires in a funky way.
