I have Sate Farm and like @doublethebass, they told me as long as I have a receipt I will be reimbursed.

Like some have said, every policy is different so I would check with your agent to make sure the you understand the type of coverage that you have,

Over 20 years experience, currently representing seventeen different auto insurers. Most of the ones mentioned above. I'm an agent. Last time I checked there were 36 different auto policy forms just in the state of Texas alone. Coverage will vary among them, but the MAJORITY of the insurers do not cover additional equipment, but will sell you additional equipment coverage. Do not assume anything is covered, or even worse, take something said out of context to fit the narrative that you hope for. Get YOUR AGENT (not his half-wit new-hire) to answer this question IN WRITING. If he says its in the policy, tell him to reply to your email and attach an e-copy of your policy referencing the page number on which the coverage exists, AND TO HIGHLIGHT IT. Keep it with those receipts alluded to in previous posts in this thread. It is as important as they are. If it ain't in writing, coverage doesn't exist. Probably though, you are going to have to buy the extra coverage to get it on the policy.
