    Hi,

I'm a newbie and had this question posted up in another forum. So I am re-posting it in this one in hopes to garner more feedback.

I'm looking for a standard load tire to wrap around TRD Pro 17x7 wheels.
    • Don't want to do any modifications to my truck such as lifting, cutting, or removing parts.
    • Don't want tire to rub when wheels are articulating.
    • I don't mind space in well.
    • I don't mind skinny.
So.....which tire size should I consider?
    • 235/75/17
    • 245/70/17
    • 255/70/17
    • 245/75/17 (approx 31.5")
I am leaning towards 255 (assuming it clears everything in the fender well), but 235 is also available with similar dimensions. So I compared the 235 and 255 using TW tirecalc, and dimensions are super close. The most significant dimension is that 255 is wider than 235 by .79 inches.

I guess in this predicament, it boils down to price and looks. Not sure why tires of very similar dimensions are available.

Please share photos if you got 'em!

    Thank you.

You're well on your way. Already looking at the tire calcultor is a head start for you!

Have you entered your stock size tire, then tried to find the closest 17" size that matches? I'd wager a +1 size from that should still work.

You might try searching for the oft repeated question 'what is the biggest tire I can fit w/o lift'.

Thanks Bill! Before I joined, I just so happened to come across a thread, "what is the biggest tire w/o lift", and the most common recommendation (if not the only), is the infamous 265/70/17. Then I read that if that size was mounted to 17x7 TRD Pro wheel that sports a 4 mm offset, cutting and removing mud flaps and/or cutting fender well might be required. Because I don't want to do any of that to my truck, I thought it'd be safer to look at sizes 31" and below.
