What's the point of having one? Well, access to the computer's sensor data, the ability to display it as four numeric gauges, trip computer functions, code reading and reset functions...

    That's about it, really.

Anyone have any pictures of where you have yours mounted in a 2nd generation? I have often thought about pulling the trigger on one of these units but I can’t decide where to put the display so it doesn’t look hokey(sp?).

    Thanks,
    dd

I don't have a pic handy, but I tried a location I saw in a picture somehwere, and it has worked great. On my auto trans '09, there is a little oddly shaped storage pocket in the dash close to my right knee. I test mounted it there, and I can easily glance down through the steering wheel and see the left two gauges without moving my head during normal driving. I can shift my head slightly to see the right two gauges.

Benefits: Five minute install, you can coil the extra wire and stick it behind the gauge in the pocket, and it is all but invisible from the outside.

Avg L/100km, realtime L/100km, water temp, volts

I've got mine mounted with the velcro it comes with on top of the steering column.

How do you get distance to empty displayed?

It took me a while to figure out where I wanted to mount my scangauge. I didn't want to purchase the blendmount so I mounted the scangauge on the steering column with the velcro. I ran the wire through the steering colum and left some slack so that on hot days or when I don't want to leave the scangauge in the open for people to steal, I just keep it in the little storage compartment above my right knee.

It's tucked up under the dash on the left side. Also has a cap covering the port that just pulls off. :)

Why do you guys monitor rpm and mph if you already have it displayed on the stock gauges?

I understand that if you modified your wheel size it will display the correct speed and such, but I think you are wasting the features of your scangauge.

    Just my .02.

btw, I monitor batt. voltage, mpg, LOD, and either water temp. or intake temp.

voltage because I have a lot of lights and an inverter, plus when im in pismo, we play music a lot at the camp site and I monitor how much battery I have left. Intake temp cuz I have a cold air intake and I wanna make sure it matches outside temp. well, and water temp. to gauge how warm my engine is after start up.

you're saying humidity affects throttle position??

yeah it seems to have an effect on the tps reading. in the am its like 9 and when I go home its like 13 and varies through out the day. the idle stays the same but since I watch the tps I noticed it varies. Kinda odd but it does not seem to be a performance issue just odd. I have heard other 3rz/2rz owners say the same but not 6 cyl. thats what is odd.

Hit the lower right button. You will see something like "Code" and "Trip" on the left hand side, "Gauge" and "More" on the right.

    Hit "Trip".

Now the left hand bottom button might say several things, but press it until you see "Tank".

Now cycle through the trip gauges using the top left and right buttons. You should see one that says "xxx miles to empty".

I've been wondering this too! I've read JKD's post further down the page. I can see the reading that way, but how do you get it to show up as one of the four gauges displayed?? Or can you?

The manual is a little cryptic, but I do think you can do this...somehow.

    I haven't tried yet.
