I guess this will be a thread to just BS about a really good day or a really bad day...or just your shift in general

Today started out like any normal saturday dayshift in my region...pretty slow...tying up loose ends left over from the night before (vehicle break ins etc)...

Sometime shortly after lunch, central put out that a victim was chasing 2 male subjects on foot after they broke into his car

Now...at this point...NO ONE on my squad is on a call...and the subjects had run into a neighborhood with only 2 entrance/exits

we start circulating the area pretty heavily...and i turn a corner and 2 dudes matching the description take off...i locate 1 and another officer takes him into custody...then a neighbor shows me where the other dude is hiding...i locate him...as i grab his wrist to put him in cuffs...here we go...foot pursuit

he made it approx. 20 feet before i caught him

2 in custody for theft from motor vehicle

    fast forward to 530pm

I run a tag and it comes back to another vehicle...i initiate a traffic stop...guy pulls into a gas station...here we go again...foot pursuit...we hit a heavily wooded area after about 200 yards of full sprint and i lost sight of him

we initially tried tracking with K9 with no success, and we had an officer go over to where the tag was registered to...and the owner promptly IDed the driver and described him...BINGO!

to add to his 2 outstanding warrants, He now has 5 more :D

It's been a long time since I've been in a foot pursuit...even longer since I was the initiating officer...and I dont think i've ever had 2 in 1 day

Today was also the first time i've lost a suspect on a foot pursuit...kinda sucks!

    paperwork wasnt an issue

since someone else was doing the initial report for the vehicle break-in...all I had to do was turn the subjects over to them...i did help with their paperwork tho

On my 2nd chase...today wasnt bad...just an incident report and tow slip...tomorrow tho I'll be writing all the warrants out to get them signed first thing monday morning

Thanks and God Bless you for what you do! Glad you finally got the SOBs. I hate thieves!

In 1995, caught a guy breaking into my car at 3am... he had used a screwdriver on my passenger side door lock and had my aftermarket radio halfway out by the time I got to him. Beat the ever-loving shit out of him, to include putting his head in my doorjam and using it like a frickin' nutcracker. I was a bit more intense and physical in my youth. Nowadays, I'd just shoot 'em because Lord only knows with my bad back, I couldn't hang like the good 'ol days. (Damn, I love the Castle Law here in Texas).

My saturday dayshift (over time) I cruised by the beach, hit the snack bar, had one call. Just an escort for the estranged husband to get his stuff out of the house. And that was it.:D

That was a good day. Too bad the dog didn't get ahold of your bad guy. The other day My dog and I caught 2 people trying to steal air conditioners from the roof of a building. They had a look out around the corner and beat feet when the first officer arrived. Dog took me on about a mile track when we found the first guy. I was getting ready to call it and we were heading back when I remembered we had one more spot to check. I let the dog in the bushes (which we normally don't do) cause I could tell he was in odor, bang I hear the screams and cries of delight. Found the second guy.:)

    not much to the story

A neighbor called the police because she saw a car parked outside a house, and then watched 2 kids kick in the door...first officer arrives, vehicle takes off and 2 from inside run

As i'm pulling onto the street, I see one of the suspects...he tries to hide next to a house...got him into custody and pass him off to another officer right as another officer finds the car...i roll to where he is with the abandoned car...we locate the driver hiding in the woods nearby

We'll probably be able to close out upwards of 10 burglaries

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
I really hoped the story was going to end with a Tacoma wearing a TACOMA WORLD sticker catching them.

    Good job!

Last night I was on a stop, pull the car into the scales. I get the info and am walking back to my patrol car, was just gonna verbal the driver, and I notice a vehicle driving through the scales (Illegal in CA and it pisses me off ) so I hand stop the veh. The veh had 2 male occupants. I am 10 feet in front of the veh and smell the extremely strong odor of marijuana. A 2nd car pulls along side the first car and the drivers look at eachother and look nervous. I get the keys and ID from the first car and tell the 2nd car to pull forward (Officer Safety) and the car ends up leaving. Long story short, 103 pounds of marijuana in the trunk, and 2 felony possession arrests.
