    Hey guys,

So I have finally decided to upgrade my head unit. I was wondering what all of you are currently running and how you like your set up?
I'm currently looking at the joying android unit on Amazon with possibly a axxess wiring harness. Im just not sure if it's a simple plug n' play or do I have to get balls deep into it.
Let me know you opinions so this decision can be possibly a little easier lol.

i have alpine, women has a jvc.

check out crutchfield. they will send you the dash parts and wire harness to hook it up without butchering wires.

if you have steering wheel controls, you will need an adapter for that as well.

while you are at it, you might as well add speakers and an amp. stock speakers are a joke.

Why's that? I would assume because it's cheap, so probably works great for about a week or so then starts crapping out.

From the reading I've done here and there. The consensus seems to be that a single DIN head unit will have better specs than a Double-Din head unit. The trade-off is you do not get all of the bells and whistles with a single DIN head unit.

I put a Kenwood excelon kdc-x701 in my 06 dclb about a month ago. It breathed some life into the stock speakers. They're not great, but it's much better than it was.

I have the axxess unit, easy install. I got the radio and interface from a friend in the trade, and the instructions showed a connector body full of wires, and my connector only had 3. Through me for a loop as i was looking for way more than 3 wires in the connector. Tapped 2 of the wires, grounded the third, gave it 12v switched with the radio power and it basically set itself up with just a couple presses of the volume up button on the steering wheel.

i've seen posts saying it crapped out in 6 months... warrenty service cost 200. laggy buggy software

i've also seen people that love it. soooo

but for me... i think it looks terrible. plus.... and for me it is a big plus... it doesn't have much in the way of outputs for amps. the best one i saw was 4 rca outputs, but of which were for a sub. another was 2 rca outputs with one sub out. edit...i did find one with proper rca outputs....

there is a thread or two in the audio section.. xda forums have info as well.

I installed a Pioneer AVH-X5600BHS in my '14 a few years ago. It has enough quirks that I'd be hard pressed to buy another Pioneer unit. I put a Kenwood KDC-X998 (single DIN) in my older Corvette last year and really like it.

Alpine ilx-207 and alpine power pack. Bought through crutchfield. Using the maestro rr to retain steering wheel controls. Brought everything down to best buy and had them take care of the install.

I too want an android double din display. Mainly for Apple play or any phone mirroring option. I just don’t want to lose steering wheel controls, and auto switch to back up cam with the lines. Also not that great with wiring

Always been a Kenwood guy myself. Double Din with Navigation, Bluetooth, Sirius XM, the works. Couldn't be happier. Sound upgrade from the new head unit as well.
