    Hi Everyone,

I'm new around here and have tried searching this for a while and haven't been able to come up with an answer. I'm trying to figure out what alarm system I have on my truck. I recently bought this truck used and had initially assumed I had some sort of aftermarket alarm but I didn't get the remote for it. Then I started searching a little and seems that I might have some sort of factory installed alarm that works with the factory fob. I have a LED light that doesn't light up and has a button on the back of it mounted under the steering column as shown in the pic. Can someone shed a little light on this for me?

Can you take pic of what the light and button under the steering wheel that's not from the backseat? More detailed info and pics, the more likely you are to get an answer. Looks like the TPMS reset button... does the button have an image like this: [IMG]

The light that lit up next the hazard button is the engine immobilizer.

I can take a pic after work. it is a black rectangular plastic piece mounted to the bottom of the dash by 2 screws. it has a semi clear LED light on the front and a button on the back, it resembles a valet switch from a aftermarket car alarm

Yeah! We are just going to be guessing. We aren't 100 percent sure what type, kind, model that you have. It's possible that the aftermarket one was disabled? Did you buy the vehicle from the dealer? Private? What did they give you for a key fob? Someone could have put just the light in to make it look like there is an aftermarket alarm.

We need more information then what you're giving us for us to help you.

Like I said I originally assumed that it was aftermarket until I started researching. They gave me the factory key fob and nothing else. I assume that it is currently deactivated as the LED does not flash. The picture above is not of my truck but is exactly what I have mounted in the exact same spot. So I was really wondering if this was something similar to the Gulf States Alarm that was installed on many tacomas. I did buy the vehicle from a dealer but not a toyota dealer so they are no help.
