I did the same. Then I replaced them with the SS3, and noticed the new bulbs had melted the reflector lens.

Have you considered the Laminex film for the stock fog lights? I think they charge around $15 bucks for a pair of pre-cut films and they do have amber. I have had their yellow film on mine for over a year and its holding up fine.

Just thought I'd throw out a cheaper option but it sounds like you are wanting more light output.

I ordered the Diode Dynamics elite series for my taco. They haven’t come in yet but they’re $220.

I also replaced the OEM bulbs with these. Only thing to consider is newer (2020+?) models come with H16 bulbs and housings to match. These bulbs are H11 and run a bit hotter. Since I have a 2021, I also found a set of older fogs that were built for the hotter bulbs and swapped them as well. The H11s in my original housings got hotter than I was comfortable with.

Someday I'll upgrade to the DDs, but this was a good option for me for much less than half the price of the DDs.

i have a friend who put yellow LED bulbs in his halogen fog light housing and he thinks theyre the greatest thing since sliced bread. But watching him come towards me i see nothing but blinding yellow light scattered in every direction.

Installed the Diode Dynamic SS with backlight last week. The base throw some light and I like the back light with my raptor just for aesthetics.

The only problem is I am still working on best way to wire them. I have their harness, but their system does not plug into the factory so it,is manual on/off/backlight.

Good fog lights can be immensely useful in poor visibility conditions where you struggle to see the roadway in heavy rain/snow/fog. They are to help illuminate the shoulder and edges of the roadway so you can stay on it, so the pattern should be wider than the headlight pattern, and also will be very short distance. Most vehicles fogs are practically toys that provide little to no use. The 16-19 TRD trucks actually came with impressive H11 fogs from the factory that were the same power as the headlights (same bulb), the 16-19 non-TRD and all 20+ trucks are back to very low performing H16 fogs that are practically worthless. To get better performance you need to swap the fog assembly, either to the earlier 16-19 H11 TRD units, or an SAE LED assembly such as the SS3s that were mentioned.
