Not looking for the whole train horn thing, but would like something that is of real quality. I would prefer it be able to, let's say really get your attention when they are sounded. Can you help with a few recommendations? Thanks

Some ideas for you along with the sounds. I'd like to try this mod myself some day.

I think they sound good, but doubt they're "hornblasters" loud since it's still an electronic horn and not something that needs a 25 gal compressed air tank like on a train lol.

If I could find some for cheap at a pull-a-part, I'd wire them in place of my stock horns with no concerns for those around me whose behavior warrants a horn tap.

    OME and worth every penny.
The Caddilac horns aren't illegal. Having 4 notes makes it seem louder than it is.

I had forgot about this mod I had planned from this site.

They're DOT approved, Delco-Remy manufactured them for General Motors.

    Hmm . . . none as yet, that's why i'm here . . .
Cadillac horns is the way to go. Getting expensive these days, and have been for the last few years.
Use two relays for the four horns.
You will have fun with them.
    They do get ones attention.

Cell phone use also lands in the same category of distracted drivers.

Anyhow, seriously, if you can find a 4 tone horn set from a mid-70's GM car. They would be legal.
    Another path is PIAA has a 4 tone system 330 & 400 Hz, p/n 85115 pair with 500 & 600 Hz, p/n 85112. Cost will be about $150.

To my knowledge, they are just plain - o 12V horns. But I have learned a few things about how particular some of the controls are in the 2nd gen. lately. So not having actual hands-on knowledge I will say, on the surface, YES but definitely would welcome any outside input.

    "Park Avenue" ACDF horns
    The only way to go.

I have the A-C-D-F (4 horn) setup from a Buick Park Avenue.

    DOT approved.

Better than factory but not to the illegal level as a train air-horn.

I used to run about a 4-5 gallon air tank stuffed up in my rear bumper with a small air compressor under the hood and dual freight truck horns under the cab. Wired a switch between the electric horn under the hood and the horns' solenoid. I left the switch on, so whenever I honked my horn I'd get both the electric horn and the air horn. If you held the horn long enough the volume of the air horns would fade til nothing was left, but the electric would still be going. Easy flip of switch and back to JUST the electric horn.

Reliability was a serious issue. I had to run dual air lines everywhere to have enough air volume for those horns, and that tank lasted seconds on full blast. Too many connections to leak, hoses run all over under the truck as there weren't many good places to place that big of an air tank, and with the horn hidden under the truck it wasn't the best for longevity. One of the bells actually broke off from the vibration under there and probably road debris, and eventually the diaphragm on one of the horns decided it preferred to squeal instead of honk.

My plan is to pick up a Feniex Typhoon one of these days for the added accessory buttons and the electric air horn. I'm currently running their mini controller for my air compressor, cell booster, strobe lights, driving and ditch lights.

    upload_2021-12-22_8-19-42.jpg

Eventually though, I guarantee I'll go back to an air horn, but only for the fond memories of my grandfather. He has had a horn plumbed into his truck off a yarder he used to run, moving it from truck to truck for the last 35+ years. It's very different than any other tone I've ever heard. He is 92, and not long for this world. But that horn is mine when he's gone, he wants me to pull it off his truck the second he is gone, and hopefully it will be on all my future trucks.
