What are my winch mounting options?

So far I've seen full plate bumpers with winches, the lo-pro type bumpers that let you put a winch into the black plastic front piece, but is there any options to mount a winch that doesn't require a bumper of some sort?

Ok, I can see how that would work, giving your the pros that you can winch out either forward or backwards. However, how far out does the receiver hitch stick out? And if I wanted to keep my winch connected at all times, this wouldn't keep it out of the weather.

I wouldn't keep the winch in the receiver at all times as it wouldn't be protected from the weather or thieves.

 

I wonder if you can hilift fron the receiver...this would basically replace the aluminum crash bar up front? I'd rather keep the winch mounted at all times to be honest but this is getting the gears turning.
