I'm looking for some good trail runs with possibly some good views.

Santa Clarita, roughly an hour or less if that's a possibility.

Hungry Valley is up in Gornam. Sandberg is up off the 138. There is a nice trail going across the range near Sandberg. I can send you a picture of a page of an off road book about the Sandberg trail. I think it's called Liebre Mountain

Hungry Valley is nice and trail rated. Every trail has a rating and there is a map they will give you at the entrance shack.

These are mostly appropriate for a 4x2?

Yes sir, might just head over to Gorman area soon, seems closest for a quick weekend trip and it looks like the kind of trails an amateur like me can get a feel for without breaking anything. Thanks for your help.

If you're in Santa Clarita then you're right next door to Rowher Flats and Drinkwater Flats, both have amazing views and a variety of trails from 2wd friendly to 4x4 only. Rowher Flats main entrance is off of Sierra Highway a few miles past Vasquez Canyon, the backside entrance/exit is off of Bouquet Canyon Rd. right across from the Bouquet reservoir. Drinkwater Flats entrance is also near the reservoir, the main entrance is off of San Francisquito.

Hungry Valley/Gorman is fun but it's mostly wide open, fast paced wheeling...if you're looking for technical 4x4 trails then I'd hit up Rowher or Drinkwater.

Miller Jeep Trail/Lockwood Canyon is a really fun 4x4 trail (really tough) out near Gorman but it's closed until April I believe

View from the backside of Rowher Flats headed down to the Bouquet Reservoir (off of Bouquet Canyon Road). You need 4x4 though to get to this spot on your own, if your 2wd with the e-locker you could probably do it when it's dry but I wouldn't without another rig there just in case you need a tug.

There's actually a fire road (2wd friendly) that wraps all the way around the 4x4 trail with similar views though
