You'll have to please excuse my ignorance of turbo technology, but why would a single bank of 4 cylinders get two turbos?

Also, how is the Tundra 3.5L (minus the turbos) different from the Tacoma 3.5L?

Please excuse my ignorance. I just assumed and didn't think.
The new V35A engine is very differant the the current 2GR motor. For one the stroke is bigger than the bore by a factor of 1.2

Toyota insiders say the Tacoma is getting the 2022 Lexus NX engine.

    2022 Lexus NX Engine
Beneath the hood of your existing crossover is a 2.-liter several-liter turbo engine along with 235 hp. The organization intends to exchange this powertrain having a more robust and effective process. The heart of the deal will undoubtedly be a 2.4-liter model that will be operated with a turbocharger. The strength production will probably be nearer to German deluxe crossovers. In line with the advertisements, technical engineers will work on the new engine to make 300 hp.

The existing hybrid technique is quite effective at 33/30 miles per gallon. Nonetheless, the actual 2022 Lexus NX will probably improve it into a PHEV setup that will preserve gasoline ingestion but offer some electric-powered array. For your Rav4, the battery can keep the crosshair operate for 40 kilometers. Furthermore, the Rav4 Best Hybrid brings together a petroleum engine and a motor unit using a total potential of 302 hp. Lexus seems to be seeking outcomes similar to this for that new NX.

My guess is TOYOTA will have a supped-up turbo version of the Sienna hybrid on the Tacoma. My friend who recently lost his 2nd Gen taco in a wreck, just bought a new Sienna hybrid that gets 36/36 mpg. It’s a nicely equipped vehicle, I doubt the Taco will have anywhere near the amenities thought, because after all, it’s a truck.

I am looking for around 305hp/300ft torque for the Taco when it comes out and 26-28 mpg to justify the higher price

I'll be looking for a M/T when the next gen Tacoma comes out; doubt I'll find it; may keep my 2019 for a while or likely a long while.

if its on the same platform as the tundra, I'd see a non leaf spring setup. Aren't all the next gen truck platforms regular shocks in the rear?

The engine options will be like the new Tundra but with two less cylinders. Turbo 4 cylinder and a hybrid version.

This is just my guess based on what has been found on the intronets.

Or, it'll just be an EV. So far the lineup of 2022 is, Rivian, Ford F150, Hummer.

My wife has a Tesla. After driving it, there is no way I'll ever buy a gasoline engine ever again. Charging is also no longer a problem. In the time it takes to get some gas station food, pay for it and eat it, I can charge 200 miles of range.

I can't imagine Toyota would jump into ev trucks with a tundra first.

I saw a new Sienna wheel chair van conversion the other day. This conversion was slightly lifted, the sienna looked cool with increased ride height.

All new Tundras are coil springs in the rear.

4th gen Tacoma probably will be too. Both trucks could share the same rear, and all 4x4s will be equipped with a rear locker.

TRD Pro might get a front locker as well.

I agree that this is the most likely outcome.

About the same that anything branded TRD was actually developed in their racing program.

Who cares about the deivetrain. Most important question is "will it have disc brakes in the back?" :rofl:And those cool stabilizer fins from tundra bed caps better make it onto the Taco. That's at least +50 bhp at the wheels.
