It would have to be expensive, like fancy wood in the bed with heat expensive.

Yeah.....im out on that business. Personally $50,000 is where I draw the absolute line on a truck. Which is why I dont have a new super duty.

I feel you. Any more expensive and I'd be afraid to drive the thing for fear of paint swirls or any other pavement princess thing.

Some trucks on here have more than $50k of Plano cases on top of their Prinsu racks -- which is fine, just not for my broke ass.

I'd like a new 4Runner but those aren't cheap, and the mark up.

I don't care if it comes with a V-twin mated to a V drive as long as it has a skewwp.

If they threw a V8 in the new Taco I think 99% of us would trade in.

Hm I dunno. The previous gen Colorado/canyon was offered with a v8, wasn’t a big hit at all.

Im sure Toyota spends millions of dollars per year on market research to ignore the cries of "99%" of its buyers saying they want a V8 Tacoma. Makes total sense.

That Solar Wind or what ever that exclusive Pro Red color looks good. Voodoo Blue on the new Tundra would look great.

Federal government mandated overall mpg for all vehicles sold overrides what 99% of the buyers actually want. Makes total sense.

There are ways around that. Thats why GM has made so many shitty econoboxs over the last decade, brings their overall MPG rating up. Im sure if 99% of Tacoma buyers wanted a v8, Toyota would figure out a way.

It would eat into Tundra sales then.

Do you think there are enough people that wanted a Tacoma but bought a Tundra instead solely because of the V8 option? What are those buyers going to do now that it is no longer available with an 8? If that rings true then that probably blows any hope we may have for a FI engine in the Tacoma.

Its not the "V8" its the power and capabilities over the tacoma so if the Tundra is going 3.5TT then most likely the Taco will get a 2.5T as its main engine option.

Can't have each other cannibalizing sales.

Small 2.5T and everything blows after the powertrain warranty. A great way to sell more vehicles to the newbs.

Turbos might induce more buyers to buy an extended warranty.:)

Boost puts a smile on my face in my 2 litre '93 MR2 turbo with 219k kms and is done reliably with a factory low pressure turbo and without the benefit of all the high tech computer ecu stuff of today.

The T24-FTS is a 2.4L Turbo Inline 4 that was introduced in the Lexus NX this year could be a blueprint for the next gen. 275hp @ 6K and 317Lb ft between 1,700 and 3,600 RPM which would put it at about the same current Tacoma numbers. It can also be paired with a hybrid powertrain. MPG is good not great. But the transmission will determine alot. A longitudinally mounted application tuned for a little less HP and more torque could be in the works. Turbocharged engine reliability has come a long way the last few years.
