I toss my keys and phone in there when I sleep in the bed while camping... I've also heard of people installing lights or speakers in there. Other than that, I can't think of much use for them.

I'm bringing this back because this is freaking genius. Damnit, I'm usually good at thinking of random uses for things. I've been remodeling my house with drywall and plywood. Woudl've been MUCH easier hauling it around than leaning them awkwardly against the bed rail. + 1 for Canada (and that's saying something from a southerner in Oklahoma heh) :canada: @OZ-T

    wrong.

    mine doesn't have them.

u should have your friend watch the assembly process someday

beds on the assembly line are lifted from the bottom
in fact the entire body and the composite bed with metal sides attached as one unit (the 'cab-deck marriage')
is dropped from a huge truck-length crane/cradle onto the frame, and then the bolts in the bed get fastened

they are storage cutouts for the owner...

not something invented for the factory to use

there to use for 'whatever'...recessed anchor points, lumber to make a rail.... or otherwise
just a way to make wasted space more useful.

I put a cargo spacer jack in those pockets so that way I can put a box behind it.

I was just looking at these the other day. Little storage boxes? I dunno. I haven't found a use yet.

Kinda wasted space unless you have a shell.I've stuffed gloves, bungy chords etc.in those area's before though.Even slept in the bed one time camping(no shell)and put my keys, wallet and cell phone in there when i passed out.

Was gonna start a thread but... I'm about to add side tool boxes. I want to take the cubbies out because they will be covered up but still collect dirt. I plan to take them out and cover them with an aluminum plate before I install my tool boxes.

So my questions is: how do they come out? I've pulled and pryed some, but I don't want to break something, then see how it was supposed to be done.

thanks for any help, and apologies for the hijack.

Had I only pryed a bit harder I would have seen the tape. I was thinking there were plastic tabs that I was going to break. both sides are now out, and you, Kemosabe, are my hero. Give my regards to Tonto. ;)

What an awesome forum this is!!
