    That sucks a big one.

How about Mercedies and that system they have built in, when you get too close to somebody at a certain speed the brakes come on. No more tailgating. Anybody know more about this?

Cars that automatically unlock the doors and turn on the interior light when you shut off the engine. I think this "feature" attracts too much attention. I've seen this in three domestic cars so far: Chevy Malibu, Chrysler 200 and Dodge Caravan. Thankfully the Taco is devoid of such "features".

Mine isn't. Forgot where my dad found it online but we programmed my truck to do that. It was pretty easy too. Another annoying feature I like :notsure:

On non-German cars, there's usually a legit reason for the speed limiter:

    1. The OEM tires are V-rated, or 149 mph.
    2. The car may be unstable above 150 mph, due to aerodynamics, driveshaft resonance (Lincoln Mark VIIIs had this problem), steering shimmy, etc.

In my Tacoma I don't like the orange lights under the rear view mirror that shine on the radio. I mean they would be cooler if there was an option to turn them off! Maybe there is but I haven't figured it out yet :/ other than that I am right there with the guy that said something about retained accessory power on the gm's and seat belt chime. Passive locking sucks too aka when you unlock your door before you get to your truck and get side tracked for a minute and it locks itself back before you get there. Grr lol still love my truck though. I can deal with the minor stuff.

In my wife's Subaru, the seat does not go back far enough for me to be comfortable on long drives... I am only 6'1... Surprises me that no-one would have figured that out during the R and D process. It was great on a test drive, but when we go on long trips, I can't drive nearly as much as I would prefer.

Agreed. Made sure my Tacoma was a mechanical lever.

The worst thing is those stupid buttons to release the keys from the ignition. I know older Ford trucks have them. You have to push the button on top on the steering column to turn the keys back far enough to remove them.
The first "mod" I did when I bought my old Ranger was remove the goddamn button.
Ive never had a problem with keys turning backwards and falling out, so why the hell do they need a locking button?!?!?!

You guys aren't going to like the 2013 Lexus GS350. I work at Lexus (tech) and have to take these online tests from time to time. I think the tests are more sales related than service related.
Anyway, systems that make sure you stay in your lane, follow a car to close (or somebody cuts in front of you), there is even a camera that knows if you are looking straight ahead. There's too much to list.

Most of these features can be turned on/off by the user.
I drive a Ford Explorer at work and I have turned off the door unlock feature where you have to press the button twice to unlock the passenger doors (it is a safety feature so crooks can't jump into the passenger side when a lady opens her driver's door in a dark parking lot...- you have seen the movies..)
You can also turn off the outo lock of the doors at a certain speed, or that they will unlock or not when you put it in park. Many other features can be adjusted by the user.
Check your manual - it is all in there.

The chime when the key is in the ignition when the door is open can not be turned off (without a mod) and that is really irritating.
The seatbelt chime is law, so although that can be easily modified, it should not be.

That being said, the most anoying feature is the trip computer in the Explorer that starts beeping when it gets close to the oil change time, fuel level is low, tire pressure low etc. Some of these chimes can not be turned off (for obvious safety reasons) but it is anoying as hell if I know when my fuel level is low and I am on my way to the gas station but it keeps beeping all the time.

Soon enough we will have cars that drive themselves. Not because it's cool, but because the majority of drivers are idiots.
