First gen taco owners, every rust belt taco I'm finding has these brackets completely rusted out. If they're easily replaceable and not a big deal let me know. Als what are they?

I cant tell the location very well but I would assume those are for the seat bolts and seat belts maybe, they are the only things bolted to the floor

I could be wrong (dont have a 1st gen to look at), but those look like backing plates for the seats.

Has anyone replaced those brackets? They're rusted and flaking apart on every taco I've found

It would be worth the drive to head south to find a first gen Tacoma. I have a 1989 that has NOTHING rusted out or flaking on it. Mine is not for sale, but if I were looking for an older Tacoma, I'd go south a couple of states.

If it is for seat mounting, I'd be worried about what would happen in an accident... Seat rips out and you fly around inside the cab?

Suspect they are welded to the floor, not just a big washer.

They could be ground flat and another piece located over them, obviously using new bolts and proper rust inhibitor as well. But it would be a good bit of work if it was a driveway job.

Keep in mind, if you are finding rust there, it's likely hiding in other places as well!

As someone else suggested, I'd be searching out of the salt belt for your best shot.

I'll start looking at Cali and Lower east coast. Issue is the amount of trucks down south that received new frames is pretty close to nil. New from trumps a few hours with a grinder to me any day.

They don't get new frames in the south because they don't need them. Except coastal areas, rust issues are close to nil.

Right, but if we have all acknowledged that the old original frames are not cut out to live up in the rust belt then it would be silly of me to grab an original frame and bring it up north to rot. The obvious response here would be to question whether or not the new frames are any better, but I have looked for that answer and so far haven't heard anything to disprove that they are as bad as the original.

So I guess I'll have to do a week or two more of searching and then possibly bite the bullet and do some grinding in exchange for a sub 150k taco and a 2014 frame.
