    Hello,
Long time Lurker... Newly registered poster... YAY FIRST POST!!
    2013 DCSB Tacoma, TRD package
    I've got a question.
After a few weeks of seriously searching this forum and learning about lifts, carrier bearing drops, diff drops... all the jazz...
I went down toToytec, (I live in denver so I was able to go direct and pick it up) and bought myself a nice Shiny New OME kit, 886's in the front assembled, nitrochargers and the medium OME leaf pack. (wanted to be as "bolt-on" as possible)
I was given in the parts box, 2 shims... When I was given the box and ran through it's contents, I knew what the carrier bearing drop kit looked like, and the gentelman helping me said "and there's your shims".
    This leads to my question.
What are these things used for? I presume these compliment the carrier bearing drop? to angle the pumkin up towards the drive shaft?
I did use the search function of the forum, but in reality... that can be overwhelming and rabbit hole very quickly... I ended up learning about LT and second guessing my lift... 5 hours later, here I am back to ask the question directly.
Thanks in advance from all ya'll smart doods on this comprehensive platform!!

It could be one of two things that come to mind. Either they're shims for the "taco lean" so they're for the driver side shock and leaf springs. But it doesn't sound like that's what you're describing. In which case, it's probably shims for the axles as you described, to correct the diff angle. Hopefully that helps!

Thank you, I will post pictures tomorrow. The parts are all at another location where I'll install on the truck (tomorrow! *squee*).

Good luck! Before I sold my 2021 TRD Off road, I had installed an OME lift kit with 886's and dakar medium rear springs. A little stiff at first but softened up. I enjoyed the kit. Can't wait to lift my 2010 regular cab now. :)

The forum search function is terrible in comparison to google search. I typically search for “tacomaworld [keywords]”. You can also use “site:tacomaworld.com [keywords]” but it is more to type.

I believe the purpose of the shims and the carrier bearing drop are to improve driveline angles. My king 2.5 and OME Dakar kit from headstrong came with the OME carrier bearing drop kit but no axle shims.

Personally I prefer the shims that the leaf pack center go thru and the shim is bolted to the pack.
