I'm working on a 2013 Tundra and noticed both rear fenders have this slightly darker strip that's all cracked. Does anyone know if this piece has a name and if it can be replaced? It seems like you may be able to peel it off.

    Any help is appreciated!

It's just paint protection film to protect from rock kick ups. I think you can still buy the factory part or just get any regular film off ebay/Amazon and cut/apply yourself.

I pulled mine off long ago because it gets so nasty looking. It is a factory applied product.

For removal I suggest you use a fair amount of heat and work a small section at a time with a plastic razor or old credit card.

If you force it, it's liable to bring the paint with it.

if they are old and cracked its not coming off with a plastic razor blade and heat. I had to sand mine off and repaint the fender flairs. I ended up stripping them to bare plastic and coating them with rhino liner

They yellow over time due to UV exposure which is more obvious on white paint. But it wouldn't be too expensive or difficult to get a roll of PPF and trace the existing ones to put fresh ones on every few years.

I just took one side off my 2015 and it left 90% of the glue residue.

    Gonna try GooGone this weekend

Just got mine off and not installing new ones on the flares.
I’m running narrow tires and mudflaps anyway.
Both came off with some work but the bottom rocker ones are not so easy.
The passenger side is staying and the driver side started peeling paint.
It will get repaired and a new film over that just to help with the blending of paint.
Heat the film with hair dryer and peel outer layer off .
Use plastic razor blade and rapid remover adhesive remover for the glue,it works well!

On my 4x4 Tacoma with the OEM mud/splash guards, they (clear plastic appliques) show no wear at all from stones or debris. Only issue is dirt along the leading edges of the fender flare ones, which is pretty unsightly. My truck has two small other ones at different spots on both sides. I'll leave those alone until they yellow or crack someday. When they get bad enough, I'll remove them but won't be replacing any of them.

I don't think I'll apply new ones after I get the old ones off. Did you end up installing something else?

Iim trying to get mine off now they are black they been on so long definitely an eye sore. I have done so much work on the looks of this truck in the 30 years I’ve had it that I want to get these off but if it’s going cost me a paint job I should just leave them I’m kinda bummed I was hoping it would be a easier process
