First tank was 19.3 all city. I live only 4 miles from work and about the same from town, not good for mileage. I just drove 250 miles highway, mostly flat, 75 mph and used the cruise most of the time and only got 22 mpg. I am disappointed with that. I filled her up at a new Shell station, maybe he was selling corn gas. I hope for better down the road.

im not sure on the numbers but for some reason my tanks goes empty quicker if i run anything below 91+. when i fill 91 i get about 18/22. with 89 or 87 i range 12-15 city /18 highway.

Nuthin wrong with 22mpg, after all it is a truck, that works out to about 25mpg in Cdn gallons...not to shabby. Like I said my 4.0 averages about 20:)

I always use 87 octane, based on what you say I may try a tank of higher octane for a tank or two. :)

Yesterday I drove my 4WD regular-cab 2.7 liter, 5 speed manual, for about 30 miles on a stretch of relatively flat road. I have a ScanGaugeII hooked up so am able to observe real-time mileage. There was no wind and the weather was nice, so I thought I'd compare mileage at different cruising speeds. My truck is pretty new, only has about 500 miles on the odo, so not yet broken in.

Cruising at the following speeds and with the engine temp at around 188-193F which seems to be its operating temperature, and all readings taken in 5th gear, I got the following mileages:

    75mph.............20mpg
    70mph.............23mpg
    65mph.............26mpg
    60mph.............28mpg
    55mph.............31mpg

I admit that this is a very limited and unscientific experiment, but there seemed to be a fairly precise 3mpg difference for each 5mph slower or faster that I drove. For the older members, you probably recall the much-hated "double nickel". I daresay it probably made a difference in the amount of fuel consumed in this country for a number of years, insofar as it was observed which it frequently was not. Food for thought.

Thanks for the SG info, I don't feel so bad about my mileage now. I just ordered a Scangauge II through the group buy (thanks guys).

Nothing like a new toy :)

Nice HardCase, very nice. I have a nice flat stretch of local road that I travel on the way to work in the mornings. When I'm lucky enough that no one is in the way I do around 40 MPH in 5th and the scangauge reads an amazing 40+ MPG.

I just did a 330 mile round trip and via ScanGauge I averaged 19.2 MPG. Using 87 octane, 70-73 MPH. Most of the trip was highway/interstate. 08, DC, 4x4, OR, TP. Not as well as I had hoped but I will live with it.

I currently am getting around 18mpg city driving and 20-22 on the freeway. However I'm lifting my truck real soon so, I would imagine I'll drop a few because of that, maybe?

Is your truck lifted? What sort of modifications do you have as far as airflow and exhaust?

No, it's not lifted. I have the URD intake and MAF calibrator. I did the heavy foot mod too, and that might be affecting my mileage.

Yeah, that could be. Whats the heavy foot mod? Never heard of that one. Maybe you could try an aftermarket exhaust system. It might help.
