You guys should probably figure that out then. Because 2021 is not going to be a heat anomaly for a week out of the year in the future. In a decade, you're going to be looking back and saying "Man, remember when there was only one week of unbearable heat on the west coast in 2021?"
BTW, born and raised in the PNW and have lived there off and on for 36 years. In the '90's, a heat anomaly for a week was mid 90's.

I guess the big box stores don’t carry window a/c units either, up there in the PNW?

Still ony road trip through Montana. Temps are hovering upper 80's in the day and down to the 60's at night so far.

We are on our last week and aimed towards home, but taking routes through the mountain passes instead of major highways. This is getting us into some cooler campgrounds.

Right now it's probably mid to upper 70's in the direct sun, but the heavy breeze coming over the tailing pile ponds near Virgina City Montana is getting pretty chilly. Either going to go grab a pull over or start a camp fire. :notsure:

Watching the heat wave head our direction in the next 72 hours, so we are hoping to just drive through it on our last day and get to the west side of PDX by evening. Should be below 100 by Thursday at home.

It’s too hot to even go swimming right now. I tried my parents lake near Granite Falls around 11:30 this morning and it felt like bath water. Now I’m just aggressively spooning the air conditioner.

Just biding my time in western Montana before we shoot west and jump the heat wave moving this direction.

    Today was perfect!

It's mid 70's right now with a calm breeze off the lake, so we are just relaxing next to a small campfire.

Wow! You have lots of friends with you! Looks great, but like a small city if they aren’t with you. I quit camping like that 30 years ago. Mostly primitive camping for us.

But if we were traveling the country we wouldn’t probably have much of a choice. Sorry to knock your travels.

My house has steel siding and roof, even with 2 ac units going full speed, it's hotter inside than outside. The cat is over it

Dude, I totally hear ya. I am only doing the campground thing because I don't know my way around Montana, let alone where the good primitive spots are on short notice. That and I'm not at all familiar with "real" bear country.

We are touring western Montana for 3 weeks looking at optional areas for retirement in a 5-10 years. Just jumping from local to another and now heading back home.

Mid July we are heading to the SE Oregon desert to be as primitive as we can possibly get for another 3 weeks. Hope to find some rock cliff out cropping with a view for miles to camp at, or creekside at the bottom of a cool canyon. Be lucky if there is even another human within 50 miles of us in any direction.

We have been planning a trip to Utah and will have no choice but to be in campgrounds as well.

My daughter is still at our house in Forest Grove while we are out.

Her pup is belly down on the air vent keeping cool.

    15471.jpg

She said that the air temp was 111 but the deck registered 177+ with an IR gun. So, she did an experiment.
