Power is energy utilized. That you can floor it without pinging means your ignition flash point is reduced from the ethanol diluted gasoline (ethanol does not ignite as easily as gasoline). The gallon (or liter) of ethanol diluted gasoline does not have 'more energy' than the same quantity of pure gasoline... the fact that ethanol diluted fuel will not take you as many miles (or kilometers) down the road as undiluted gasoline should be a clue.

Point is i have more power coming from the crank hence why i said ill take the millage hit and run ethanol fuel. Ignition flash point reduced is a good thing on boosted motors.

Yes, pinging (pre-ignition) can destroy your motor. Modern vehicles have auto-adjust timing to prevent it, but the power is reduced with retarded timing. Instead of lowering your gas quality with ethanol fuel to prevent pinging, a high compression engine should be using higher octane (Premium 91 octane or better) gasoline. Naturally, the cost may be prohibitive and especially since that ethanol gas blend is cheaper than real gasoline. Out here on the left coast, we can't get pure gasoline, it all has 10% ethanol, and my mileage is 10% less. Go to Mexico, gasoline with no ethanol, better mileage!

PS, do you know the Five Mile Inn (in Chubbuck)?
