    Some back story:

2004, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. George Harrison is inducted by Tom Petty and Jeff Lynne. The song "As my Guitar Gently Weeps" was selected as one of Harrison's best and pivotal works.
Prince is inducted by Outkast and Alicia Keys and The Artist is given a generous amount of time by the rest of the set to attend to his love of the extended guitar solo.
Breaking with tradition, Tom Petty was permitted to induct George Harrison. Artists being inducted are typically inducted by those who are not yet members of the Hall of Fame.

Harrison wrote the song as a lyrical experiment rooted in the philosophy of the I Ching. It refers to how there is a purpose for everything as it happens, whether it is perceived or not.
The Artist changed his name from Prince as a protest to the way musical artists are treated by recording companies in their contracts in respect to their work. In recording contracts, they are simply referred to as "the artist"

The solo performed by The Artist is generally regarded as his best publicly performed guitar work. the guitar being used is a Hohner Madcat, or a copy of one. it is unknown, as The Artist had many copies made because of his love of the construction and style. most of the reproductions are faithful in detail all the way down to the headstock logo.

Powerhouse" by Raymond Scott. It is unique in that, while many people can usually place the tune to a Warner Brother cartoon, not many know who the artist is besides the credited music director Carl Stalling.

Carl Stalling composed and arranged music for Warner Brothers cartoon reels for over 20 years. While creating and arranging music is obviously influenced by what a particular composer listens to, in this case the second movement from Raymond Scott's "Powerhouse" was lifted either wholly or in part by Stalling and inserted into several musical scores for animated cartoons. Stalling did this almost forty times over his 22-year tenure with Warner Brothers.

In this regard it can be cited as one of the earliest examples of modern music sampling.

The most recognizable, and most-used by Carl Stalling, section is the second movement. It starts at time stamp 1:14 in the attached video.
