New here but have been reading threads here for a long time. I think I am finally ready to buy a new Tacoma. I have this current offer on a 2019 TRD Pro with Desert Air intake (which I didn't want but the truck is local and happens to have it). Is this a good deal on a 2019 or do you think I could do better? Their "Care Package" includes the door seal protectors and carpeted mats.

$5000 is a good deal on a Pro, you could probably turn around and get that private party / trade in. I'd tell them you dont want that care package crap and meet you at $43k.

    MSRP: $44772
    Discount:$4906.23
    Rebate:$1750
    Price before tax and tags:$38115.77
So I figure 14.8% off MSRP including the rebate
Sorry for the crappy pics. I was literally only allowed in the dealership for 10 minutes.

Got confused there, I'm guessing you meant after rebate which would be $38115, and your 14.8% way its worded seems like you only got 12% off MSRP w/the $39865. And congrats I know you've been waiting a long time.

Not as good of a deal. I paid $2k less for my similar truck and MSRP w/out the rebate back in Feb (MSRP $44.8k, paid $39.2k no rebate). The pro is gonna hold resale better if that matters to you.

Thats more than 15% on a pretty desirable config, depending on your region that might be a stretch, if you can get them to $38500 that would be a solid deal. Honestly if the pro is in your wheel house you could probably get them down even more as we are now 4 months into the new year and sales down, I bet they will deal more off MSRP than the 20. Sounds like you got a plan though. By the way that 20 does not have the LED headlights, just the DTRL ;)

Actually I did misread that about the LED headlights. Thanks you are correct. I am not in a huge hurry to get rid of my old truck but have been looking for about 6 months. I have driven the 2019 and 2020 and I like the power seats better however it isn't a deal breaker IF I can grab a good deal on a 2019 Pro. Will counter offer on the Pro and see what they say.

Both are really solid deals, I would see how low you can go on the Pro, my dealer literally took a voodoo blue pro in for $43k trade and sold it later that week for $46k, they hold their value just a tad better. I actually prefered the seats in my 2019, a) never had an issue with position prior to b) only one ever driving my truck c) the new seats are definitely not as comfortable. Good luck, post pics if you snag a new truck or any other offers you wanna run by us.

The 2020’s premium trucks went up a few notches in there tech package, like 8in screen, with apple/android play, remote start, power seats, key sensors open both driver and passenger doors.birds eye view camera’s. ( when you drive your car under 8mph, the camera stays on your screen( birds eye view or side views) comes in handy when you plan on hitting trails, or slowing down to a stop sign. Everything else is identical from suspensions to handling. Its all personal preference.

i was sold with the apple play and camera’s!

I think the 2019 PRO you’re looking at is a deal if that price you mentioned was OTD?

I was trying to haggle with my dealership for a used 2019 TRD PRO with 8000 miles for $45k OTD .. they wanted $48,500 OTD here in California. Turns out they had a 2020 TRD PRO and i got that for $50K OTD. It didnt make sense that there was only a $1500 difference between the 2 trucks. Just a perfect example of PRO’s holding there value. I attached the 2019 used PRO and the 2020 that i pulled the trigger on

Picked up a 2020 Tacoma TRD Off Road 4x4 AT Long Bed in Cement. Came with Advanced Tech, Premium Pack, All Weather Mats, Wheel Lock, TRD Shift Knob, Paint Protection Film.

    MSRP: $45603
    Discounts: $4028
Opted for 0% for 60 months instead of $1750 rebate.
Pre-tax and fees final price: $41575

Felt like this was a solid deal, there was only one other one of this build within 150 miles and they came no where close to this.

With all do respect you are trying to compare a used PRO and OTD which isnt the best way to go about it. You also are a bit confused on the packages. The TRD OR she listed has the regular tech package which does not have the 360 camera, so bascially if she chose the new 19 PRO she would only be missing out on a power seat, slightly bigger screen, remote start and apple car play, but be gaining a much better suspension, all the PRO aesthetics and of course the better resale as you alluded to with your negotiating a used one come trade in time.

OTD is a terrible way to try and negotiate and discuss on a forum where everyone is in different regions and may or may not be trading in, fees, etc. This is why you'll see us discussing % off MSRP. Both deals are close to 11-12% off MSRP, the difference is the PRO you almost never see get near that off MSRP and in the end will fetch higher resale.

But yes there are some differences between the two that she'll have to consider, but not that many. I bet she could get closer to 13-14% off MSRP on the left over PRO and be in a better place to negotiate given it being a left over and current circumstance than the 2020, dealer will be more apt to move on it and let the 20 sit a bit longer, just my 2 cents. And congrats on the new PRO. Brave man getting a black truck, did that once with my 16, never again, they do look sick though, lol.

My apologies for that. I was comparing a 19 to a 20 TRD PRO. But you are right. Its all aesthetics. The PRO does have better suspension, compared with the 2020 off-road
If she it worried about the aesthetics. I would definitely go get the pro since she is opting out of the tech package?
Out the door prices Is probably a California thing since we have the one of the highest tax rates and TTL rates, i forgot to consider other states that dont pay sales taxes on Vehicles and lower tax states. But anyways, to clear things up,it was about 9% of the ODT price of my $50K PRO. So my final price for the 2020 PRO was about $45,673+tax and Misc fee’s
So MSRP was $48,223, a savings of about $2900.. and like i mentioned for the used 2019 PRO, they would not budge on the $44,850 price plus tax and misc fee’s.. a good example of how the PRO’s hold its value. Hope i cleared things up a little

You're good bud! I just wanted to make sure she wasn't getting confused. CA is rough and sounds like you got a good deal. And I'll gladly trade you trucks ;) Im sure you're already thinking about it but get her ceramic coated ASAP, as a prior black truck guy you'll thank me later!

Dude, I've always owned white cars, and went completely opposite with black, and it only takes hours after a wash for it to look dirty. Already put a ceramic coat so i could just rinse it off with water.
I feel like a got a good deal since new PRO’s are always MARKED UP in value and rarely really under MSRP. Our pandemic situation kinda made it happen to where dealerships got desperate i guess.

Yep, I've had a few super whites, cement, MGM, whatever the black was in 2016, silver sky and radiant red. Still love the black on the 3rd gens, so clean. Hopefully this pandemic and slowed production also helps with pro resale, I know last year my buddy who is a regional manager in AZ told me Toyota got a little over zealous and built a sh*t ton on 19 Pros, and as you can see they struggled moving them.
