I feel you. I was going to make a run at this used TRD Off Road with low mileage (see below). Worked with a dealer in CT and pretty much beat this deal based on a number of factors (good pricing on new truck, rebate, dealer willing to offer more on my trade in). But that was a few months ago. Exactly what I thought would happen has happened: buyers still out there in droves, Toyota limiting production, supply tightening, dealers able to sit on the inventory they have, prices stabilizing.

@TacoBuffet has been right all along -- if you get 15% off you scored. In fact, when I was sitting at the Toyota dealer I quoted @TacoBuffet to the sales manager. We had a good laugh -- he was right on the money. Dealer said, I lived through the dot com crash, 9-11, crash of 2008 and not the worse pandemic in a very long time and have never seen anyone get 20% off !

How do you all manage to snag a BLUE taco??? I'm looking to trade in my '15 white access cab manual towards a doublecab auto '19 or '20 in blue (so the wife can drive and the dogs can be in the cab with us). Reds can be had near me but.... blue is nice.

try to find a better deal online. i'm in the SE, too (AL). i went to a few dealers, and no one was willing to move. i found a deal online in IL, and was fully planning to have to drive up there to buy my truck. i decided to take that offer to a local dealer just to see what would happen. sure enough, they met me close enough to make the long drive to IL not worthwhile (after a lot of back and forth). Basically, from my experience (this was my first buy), you have to show up with a deal in hand from someone else and be willing to get up and walk away if they dont meet/exceed it. your salesperson sounds like a jackass. those fees are your wiggle room on the price if they give you any grief when you come in with a solid offer. good luck

Trust me, if you want a blue 2020 then get ready to pay sticker or close to it. I only found 3 blue long beds within 500 miles of me (big city) and I snagged one at about 6% off msrp.

I figured I wouldn't get much of a discount, just finding the damn thing is getting hard!

I really wish they made the red a trd red and not this maroon-ish type of red. I would definitely buy a red If they did.

Yeah, seems silly but they definitely want to see an offer from another dealer and then they will beat that. If I sit there and tell them I’m not going to pay more than this and then walk away I don’t see why that’s not the same thing but, who knows...
Yeah, not planning on dealing with them. I have a truck ordered already and coming in a month but this was just Plan D just in case the ordered truck falls through for some reason.

Hi Everyone! First time posting, but I've been reading and researching this thread for months.

I am currently in the market for a black TRD Sport (4-door crew cab) - things like leather interior, running boards, mud flaps, etc. are not important to me, so I've been looking at the Sports with MSRPs of $38k-$39k. I was recently quoted the below, and wanted to get your thoughts on how this compares to what you all are seeing out there in the current environment.

    MSRP: $39,342.00
    (-) Dealer Discount: $4,151.30
    (-) Rebate: $1,750.00
    Sales Price: $33,440.70

    (+) Taxes: $2,215.45
    (+) Government Fee: $485.00
    (+) Proc/Doc Fee: $389.00

    Out-The-Door Price
    (with rebate): $36,530.15
    Out-The-Door Price
    (with 0% APR): $38,280.15

I have been talking with multiple dealers throughout my area for a few months, and this has been the best quote within the last few weeks. I did have better quotes last month, which I am kicking myself for not jumping on, but I can't change that now!

I guess I'm just looking to gauge these numbers, what number I should be going back to them with so I don't insult them, and if you would take the rebate or 0% APR in this type of situation. Thanks in advance!

Not sure what the government fee is but even for arguments sake, subtract that out of your discount puts you at 13.8% which is still pretty good. Have you gotten quotes from other dealers in your state? Is that government fee included in all the quotes? If it actually is a real thing which very well may be the case then that would put you at an even 15% off which is very good. Either way I would say you’re at minimum getting a good deal so if you’re comfortable with that then I would say pull the trigger. If it is worth it to you to gamble a little and look around some more to try and save $500 or something like that then that makes sense as well.

Hey everyone! First post, but I've been lurking around for months doing some research. Pretty close to pulling the trigger on a 2020 TRD Off Road DCSB Premium 6 MT with Tech. Trying to see if this is a good deal or not. I've tried to talk them lower than this, but no dice so far. Here are the details:

    MSRP: $41,208
    Dealer sale: $38,701 (before rebates)
Tacoma and Military rebate price: $36,451

They won't budge any lower. It's a 3 hour drive to pick it up so I want to be sure it's worth it. What do you all think?

I would think they would deal lower than that for a stick. 2 years ago when I bought my '18 off road I got $4.5k off...I know inventory is low but I would offer them $37,700k take it or leave it and see what they do

PS the deal I mentioned of mine was stick shift as well

You mean $37,700 before rebates or OTD?

My apologies, I flubbed that and didn't see their final offer of $36k. Yea that seems a pretty good deal at ~$5k off for premium.

    B84A41E7-2D3F-45D3-A37D-3E3DCC1C836A.jpg Hey Guys,

    I originally posted a year ago inquiring about a 2019 SR5 4x2 Access Cab.

Yesterday I joined the club, Bought a SR5 Double Cab Short Bed 4x2.

    MSRP: 33,873
    Selling Price: $30,961
    Total OTD: $32,127

Put about $7k down, and financed the rest @ 3.45% for 75 months.

I believe I got a pretty good deal considering I didn’t get any rebates. Truck did have the predator running boards, but removed to get the price down lower. Overall, I’m extremely happy with my first Truck purchase.

For comparison sake, the military discount should not be included in assessing the deal. Right at 11% off MSRP which is decent, approaching good. If you call all the other dealers within that three hour drive radius and send them a copy of that deal I bet you could find some that will beat it. But if you’re comfortable there then you’re doing all right. Thank you for your service.

    I appreciate that, thanks.

I thought so too, but all the dealers want to "include it in their deals". I spent about an hour in a local dealer with the exact same truck on the lot, $41,008 MSRP. That dealer wouldn't budge lower than $37,450 and proceeded to laugh at me when I told them about what I'm seeing online for deals people are getting. Quoting them, "those guys are lying about their deals". I offered them $38k OTD, and they just said they couldn't do it. My wife and I ended up walking out. The truck has been on their lot for 3 months. I'd imagine they wanted to get rid of it but I guess not.

As I understand it, Toyota corporation gives the dealers back the $1750 as well as the $500 military rebate. So it’s not like it’s costing them anything to discount the truck $500 for the military rebate.
