When I bought 3 weeks ago there were 8 people there signing papers here in NJ. They never offer 0% interest on Tacoma’s so people are buying.
After talking to someone who sells cars (not toyota) he said getting the truck At Invoice or $500 above would be a realistic deal right now. I got mine for $1000 under invoice after doc fees. Then obviously taxes and tags are separate. And all of the mods I’m doing are turning me into a addicted degenerate tacoma modifier.

Agreed - I’m in south Jersey and nobody is willing to offer a decent price. In fact, the more I bargain, the more they increase the price. I’m hoping that with the factories opening, the increase in supply will drop prices a bit.

@TacoTaylor1 dam really?....I called up a few spots That had trucks I wanted and told them I was calling all the local dealers trying to get prices to buy.

told them I wasn’t trying to hurt anyone, but someone I know sells cars and told me in this market I should try and get the truck at invoice. I was told at 0% they couldn’t do that much in a discount etc. so I simply said ok what can you do? The dealer I made the sale w asked on the phone if I was gonna buy that day. I said yes and he said ok 39500 w 500$ doc fee. Was 1000$ under invoice for my trd w premium package. Idk if I just got lucky or if calling closer to the end of the day they already had made some sales that day and had margin to work with?

That’s exactly how I negotiated my deal. Idk if that helps today given the supply and demand maybe changing over the last few weeks but that was the dialogue I went with. Pretty straight forward. But your right they may have moved a lot of trucks w the initial 0% offer and are now in no need to sell at discount.

That’s helpful! I think part of my problem is that I am being particular. Looking for 2020 cement OR crew cab long bed with LED headlights. South Jersey dealers will occasionally offer invoice but I’m holding out for 35,000 before ttl. Had a guy in MD offer that but the dealer trade fell apart. Based on what people are listing on here, 35,000 doesn’t seem like an outrageous price. Guess we will see. The guy in MD is gonna try to order me one.

@TacoTaylor1 yea I was told anything under invoice and the dealers will get erked. Some people are being greedy coming in way too low thinking they can take advantage. I think invoice is realistic. Letting the dealer know you are going to buy Now and are calling around for the best price and what your expectation is is fair. Let them come back at you if they don’t give you what you want price wise write down what they offer. Call the next. They may call you back. I got a cement myself short bed. Wanting a long bed w very specific trim could limit you. Remember as far as headlights and other aspects of the trim you Could modify parts or swap them out after the fact yourself. I’d weight the cost of doing that against the sales price your getting too and see if that works.

overall also remember at 0% interest your probably saving 4-5k over the course of a 5yr loan. Compared to getting a truck at a 5% interest rate or something a little more traditional. After 0% maybe they go back to offering 2-3% idk. But even then that’s still got to be a couple grand in interest over the course of the loan. If you Need and Want a truck now I’d get in on the 0% interest as close to invoice as you can. Imho.

Greetings all. Trying to make the most of the current 0% 5 years financing. TRD Sport 4x4 long bed $40k OTD in the mid-Atlantic. Toyota’s incentive ends Monday night but dealer is telling me new prices are issued Sunday night based on inventory, expected new inventory, etc.

Is this a good deal? Thoughts on this Sunday night re-pricing algorithm?

    cheers!

@Twouptwodown does that come w the premium package? Leather, moonroof, upgraded stereo?

overall if your getting it at Invoice at 0% that’s a good deal, idk what your invoice is. Usually it’s 3-4k max off of msrp (sticker price)

@Twouptwodown ok for example my truck I just got was about 44500 MSRP. Invoice was around 41300ish.

I got lucky I think paid 39500+500 doc fee. If I paid invoice at 0% or around it I’d consider it a good deal. So for you math wise I’d think around 38200 at 0% good deal. That’s just me and after talking to someone who sells cars.

    invoice or $500 above

I bought my 2020 TRD OR back in April, just a little bit into the shelter in place stuff. You could hear crickets on the car lots. Worked out a decent deal, but also kept at it. The numbers were based on 1.9%, the "special" at the time. I tried to get 0%. Was quickly told that they just don't come off the price as much if/when 0% is on the table.

They told me that to either quickly close the sale or what I'm leaning closer to believing, remind me that the house always wins. Guess it can be viewed as a wash either way. Maybe the only way to (partially, at least) quantify the savings is buying w/out using in-house financing (cash, credit union, etc...).

@jcampbell474 eh I think it has to do w a few variables as well as the specific dealship and how many cars they are moving. As I posted I got 0% interest and I got it for a 1,000 under invoice which was basically 4500 off of sticker. Awesome deal in my favor not the dealerships for sure.

Congrats! Sounds like you did get a great deal!!

I will not even attempt to pretend that I have any idea of the number of variables at play. Just stating what they told me.

@jcampbell474 you are right though I got the same response at first. 0% then less rebates. 1.9% rebates. No Monday morning quarterbacking. Just putting it on the forum so people know 0% and a grand under invoice (requiring ideal dealership circumstances probably) is possible. “What one man can do another can do” lol

@kingjj - thanks for the insight and providing your numbers as reference. Very helpful. I went in hoping for $38k and pushing for accessories as a second option. Dealer wouldn’t Offer any accessories stating it’s virtually a separate business. Started at $41900 and went down to $40k OTD. Not moving much more on price it seems stating low inventory and that they likely won’t have much inventory for months ahead. I held out on the dealer’s ultimatum to close tonight or price goes up on Monday when the 0% ends. My credit union offered 2.25% but seems the 0% is a better few than the $1500 cash.

@Twouptwodown yea they would not likely they “add” anything to the car that isn’t on it w the sticker price.

You would just have to do the math. 40k - 1500 cash back = 38500 at 2.25% at 60months equals $40,742 total.

you wind up paying $2,242 In interest.
So if you can get for under that the 0% is better than the 2.25%.

also using the dealership Gap insurance is a smart move. It’s more Expensive than through your Own insurance co by far BUT the dealers gap ins. Typically Covers the ENTIRE amount of the Loan at 0% interest. Once you drive the truck off the lot even a tacoma is Worth 20% less than msrp. If you total it god forbid your personal insurance plan will most likely Not cover the entire amount. Make sure you and Cancel the Dealers Gap insurance at Any time. Keep it for a year and at 12months cancel it. They Should take it off your loan. Don’t pay for it all upfront

don’t put ANY money down if you can afford not too and can stomach the monthly payment at 0% interest. Your using and their money. Free money. Never put money down on a depreciating asset. If you total the truck the gap insurance will ONLY cover what is left on the Loan. If you put 5 down on the loan After you drive it off the Lot You walk out owing 35k, the truck immediately depreciates very close to that amount as soon as you take it. If you totaled it next week the insurance would say yes it’s worth about 35-36k we’ll pay off the remainder, and your out your 5k down payment.

In summary don’t put anything down. I wouldn’t. 0% interest w gap insurance. Roll your taxes and tags into the loan at 0%. Use their money. 40k for the truck, about 3500 total taxes and tags. Finance all of it at 0% and use their gap for a Year. If you crash it they will Cover the whole loan taxes tags and all. Otherwise if you pay anything out of pocket in the event of a crash you could lose out $

also if you use their money at 0% any money you Would of used for a down payment I’d use it instead to invest or pay off any debts costing you actual interest.
