I feel the same way. When I purchased there were plenty and the dealer was dealing due to decreased traffic from the pandemic. A short time later things have dried up.

I had began negotiations just prior to the lockdown, and the initial pricing was about 8% discount from the four dealers I was working with. Once the lockdown hit, everyone immediately dropped their prices from about 12% to 15% discount with rebates. I continued to negotiate to what I thought was my best deal then I got a timely call just as I was headed to another dealer to close on a similar truck and they told me they would beat any deal I had if I would give them another chance. I ended up with an additional $700 off over the previous dealer for a TRD Off-road DCSB AT at $40k MRSP with delivery charges. With discounts and rebates it came to $32,520 before TTL, $13.5k on trade, and TTL and misc fees were around $1,500. Another member got an even better deal with the same dealer a week later, but I am still pretty happy overall with the fortuitous opportunity that came about, and so far, I’m really enjoying my “COVID” Taco.

Nice. Beats any deal I’ve seen on this thread by over 2% off MSRP. Congrats!

It was a pretty simple package. I think msrp was 36k?

Does this seem patronizing to you. I visited this dealer last week but they would not budge off sticker price for an offroad tacoma so I left. This is the email chain I had with him today.

    him,

I want to thank you for coming in to the dealership or inquiring online, but I see that you didn't purchase a vehicle. Did we have the 2020 Toyota Tacoma that you are were looking for or is there a different vehicle in mind? It's getting hard to get inventory at the moment and we have more coming, but we have a great selection an this time. Did your sales person, Erik Munoz get you all the information you asked for? Is there anything that I can do to earn your business? Please let me know and I will see how I can be of help.

    Me
Thanks for reaching out to me. I am currently talking to a dealer in San Antonio about a Tacoma that is going to be in next week. It is a cement tacoma trd offroad 4x4 that has the predator tubes, led head lights, and mud flaps installed. He has quoted me roughly $37.3k out the door for the truck. If you can beat his price let me know. I would prefer not to deal with Eric if possible.

    him,

Glad to know that you have found the color that you have been looking for, but I can assure you that the price they have told you will not be the price you are presented when you get there. That is thousands back of invoice and there is no reason to loose that kind of money when there are no vehicles available. Please check into it closer before you make this mistake. I have dealers calling me all over the state and beyond cause they have NO trucks. Let me ask you this, to get to $37,700 drive out you would have to buy it for $34,776.47 which is $8,560.63 of MSRP of $43,337. Now does that sound like a real deal? Tom you seem like an educated buyer, you know that vehicle isn't marked up like that. Let me get you a real price on the color you are looking for or one close to save you the frustrations.

    Me
Thanks for the response. The MSRP on this truck is $39,668. With the costco auto buying discount takes $3,442 which is roughly %8.6 off msrp. 36.5k before ttl and 1500 rebate seems reasonable to me.

Red McCombs, i am working with Mike Buffenbarger

I am not going to do business with them, the sales man I talked to tried to tell me that if I bought a truck now for a higher price it would be worth more than a truck someone bought later in the year.

Tomorrow I'm picking my new 2020 OR DCSB with tech package, premium interior, and LED headlights, plus a few accessories. MSRP is $44,242 and I'm paying $39,877 before TTL. I think it's a decent deal, but like it's been said over and over recently on here, it's hard to find the exact truck you're looking for right now. I'm happy enough with the price, mostly so I can stop obsessing over finding one and finally obsess over having one!

If you are in Texas, check out Cedar Park Toyota. Daniel Ramirez was awesome to work with, and even after the sale he sent a few texts to make sure I was happy with the truck.

I've been to two different dealerships in SoCal area that have a DCSB 4x4 Off-road and neither would take a dollar off MSRP. Both acted like they were doing me a favor selling it to me at msrp. One of the trucks had the premium package (leather seats) and i was quoted about $51k w/TTL and i about fell on the floor laughing. I didn't know leather seats were valued at $10k.

Anybody have a dealership they recommend in the Los Angeles area that can make a decent deal? I'd like to get roughly 8-10% off MSRP so i can sleep at night and know i didn't get bent over for this dam truck.

MSRP-selling price before tax tag fees=discount
    Pre Corona factory shutdown:
    10%=good
    13%=great
    15%+=anomaly
    Post Corona shutdown ~1-2% less
