As well as a Wrangler Rubicon, but your talking $50-75k vehicles, our TRD Pros actually have some amazing resale, I see 1-2 year old ones fetching $2-3k below original MSRP.

Now if they could only keep both Taco plants shut down we’d have ourselves FJ-like commodities.

Yep shortage has driven the used market through the roof. Dealers here are listing bare bones 2019 TRD OR's w/8k miles for $39-42k.

Holy hell just did mine, my 2020 is worth $37-39k private party, $37k trade in according to KBB, I paid $39k for it new in Feb.

Yes, I agree there are many vehicles that retain their value better than the Taco, but for some reason we are still here lol.

Well in all fairness those are very unique and expensive vehicles. Take those two out of the picture and some of the other niche vehicles and Tacoma still reigns as a champ in resale, don't see that changing, there's a reason you dont see deals below 15% off MSRP, just like with Wranglers and Raptors, though I do see Jeep being their own worst enemy they over priced the new JL and Gladiator as you see they too now have to offer $6-8k off MSRP to get them to move.

My original point was that the resale value may be diminished by the increasing demand and what folks are willing to pay but I believe I was wrong, at least at this point in time.
Great for the few that where brave enough to pull the trigger on a Taco around April!

Doubtful, when the 2016s dropped people were paying MSRP at that point too, have been driving / buying these trucks since High School, resale has always been strong.

Nah, I'm good, my 2020 has been my favorite so far, nothing wrong with it, now if someone wants to give me a King setup w/some Volk TE37xt's then she'd be perfect.

Another factor to consider is that a lot of the 2020 Tacomas are going to have low mileage. Not all, mind you. But a lot of people driving less due to working at home, not vacationing, etc. I have no data or proof but it seems reasonable to assume at this point. That means you could have a situation where there are a lot of Tacomas in the market that are not that old and with low mileage. With limited production it could mean that resale values will increase in a really meaningful way. Not sure at this point but it seems like a realistic possibility.

Good point, ya once our clinicals went on pause, I've been homebound, my 2020 only has 2200 miles on it and bought it in late Feb.

When the 2016‘s came out I was thinking that it might be possible that the good resale value Might take a dip because the bar had been set so high but I guess that’s not the case.

    Just joined this thread

I have a 2017 TRD Sport DCSB Quicksand 4x2. I purchased on Black Friday 2017. Dealer was asking for 34,458 and negotiated them down 31,450. OTD Price for my truck was $34745 after taxes and registration in LA County

A friend of mine is looking to pickup a 2020 now. Is it me or are dealers in SoCal marking them up? I have heard rumors that demand for Tacomas has not changed due to covid and incentives (some dealers here were offering 0% APR for the month of march and april) but production was impacted due to the pandemic.

I got mine in April (with help from you on price negotiation targets!) only 2,000 miles and I tend to take long drives to clear my head. It will only solidify the fact that the resale values on Tacomas are #1:

    https://www.marketwatch.com/story/10-cars-with-the-best-resale-value-2019-10-21

"The Toyota TM, +1.81% Tacoma is a legendary, tough-as-nails workhorse that’s just as capable for weekend duty, and has ranked number one in resale value five years in a row."

Yep, same with the popular optioned LED / premium OR trucks, CA dealers are marking their inbound allocations up $5k.

Welcome to the soup! It is not you. Some dealers are asking for a premium because product available is so low -- and production is slow to ramp up. Now is the time to sell your new Tacoma at an absolute premium and move over to a Ford Ranger. I kid. I totally kid.

Looks like 2020 AG Pros will be as rare as 2017 Cement one's were (also were more limited in prod), Toyota went balls to the wall with the 18 Cavs and 19 Voodoos though.
