A 2013 Nissan Altima SV with ALMOST 100k miles on it. Actually it will end up being a little over 100 by the time I drop it with the dealership.

Dealership left themselves some room to make money on the trade. Kelly blue book trade value is $5400. Still in the ballpark of a good deal compared to what others are getting right now.

Yeah, I probably could have argued on the trade a little more. But they beat the price of the other one I was looking at. At the end of the day I'm pretty happy with what I am getting.

(Unless I break down and see if they can add Blind Spot Monitors and Backup Radar while it's still at the factory).

So you basically paid $33,6xx.xx for a double cab sport model? Brand spanking new? I still think that's about the correct price for one of these in that trim.

Looks like it, just shy of 10% off MSRP, that's why so many of us continue to preach the uselessness of OTD numbers.

You might’ve done better on the trade but not necessarily. They gave you more off on the truck because they gave you less on the trade. They bake all that into the out the door price and then figure out what their overall profit is going to be with all facets of the deal included. Since you got more off the truck but less on the trade i’d say you are overall right in line with what others are currently getting so I wouldn’t worry about it.

This is exactly why we need to have a standard template response to these threads. Too many important factors are often left out.
-many have tried in various ways and none have succeeded in standardizing this. It would really require moderator assistance. Maybe This could be placed at the top of each page in the thread?
    New Tacoma purchase Template
    • Year, trim, color, transmission, bed
    • MSRP
    • Options
    • Dealer add ons- (tint, floor mats, nitrogen, etc)
    • Price before Tax Title License (TTL)
    • Discount
    • Incentive (rebate)
    • Price Out The Door (OTD)
    • Trade in vehicle(year, make, model, trim)
    • Kelley blue book trade-in value
    • Trade allowance(amount given for trade)
    • Date purchased
    • State purchased

Looking at 2020 SR5 Access Cab V6 Auto for $35 OTD. MSRP is $35,678. Taxes are 6% in MI so it's at best around 9% off MSRP and $500 fees. Good deal? I'm in no rush, was planning to wait a little longer, but sometimes you should jump on the truck when you have it. I was even thinking to wait for 2021.

I really wanted an OR without all the options but I'm not sure if I'll be able to find one at that price. I was planning to do the cosmetic upgrades myself with the black fenders, wheels, grill. Should I keep looking?

If your not in a rush wait for an OR, you can get a bare bones OR for $33k when inventory is normal (at least I did in 19 and have seen some others).

So went around couple of dealers today. No one is budging on the MSRP, in LA and Orange county. Atleast lowest I saw was 39.5k and highest is about 47k for an OR.

Yup, I started looking out of state, AZ.
There are more than a couple dealers, mentioned in previous posts, that are willing to earn business from California.

Also, it really doesn't make sense to pay MSRP when 2021s can possibly be available in a couple months.

Last week our Dealership had about a dozen DC's, I'd say about a handful of manual trans, one PRO AG man. in a couple of days there's none and only having 3 dozen AC's, only 1 4wd. The ProAG was looking good, I would have traded our 2wd for an auto AG Pro

they all look to be sold Retail - $500. The one and only Toyota dealer on island. We bought in Feb. and sales person was straight forward back then offering a no price squabbling 3-4% discount that we gladly took. Where else could we look for a new Tacoma but on the mainland US? idk

Toyota is a bit different than other manufacturers, you are not ordering you are finding an allocated truck to your dealer/region that meets your specifications, or an existing allocation request to change certain specs if allowable to your liking.

From another thread I had to argue w/a newb who insisted he "ordered it exactly to his liking from the factory":

"The third option is to locate the vehicle in the dealer’s pipeline. The pipeline consists of vehicles that have been allocated or assigned to the dealer but have not arrived at the dealer. The pipeline can be divided into three segments:

    1. Vehicles produced and in transit from the plant
    2. Vehicles that are either in the process of being built or for which the specifications have been frozen just prior to production
    3. Vehicles scheduled for production with specifications that have not yet been frozen
If an exact match of the customer’s specifications can be located in the first two groups, then the vehicle can be reserved for the customer and should be delivered in two to three weeks.

The next choice is to locate a vehicle that is scheduled for future production and request a change in specifications. That step requires the manufacturing plant to agree to change the vehicle specification. The process is as follows:

    • The dealer submits an online request to change a vehicle that has still not been produced. The change request can be a simple one-for-one change; for example, “I have a red Camry and I want a blue Camry.” The change request can also be one-to-many or many-to-one; for example, “I have a red Camry and I want either a blue or white Camry,” or, “I have a blue Camry and a black Camry and I want a silver Camry.”
    • The next step is for the sales company’s computer system to analyze and determine if any of the change requests can be satisfied by simply swapping the vehicle with a dealer who has submitted a change that is the exact reverse change request. For example, if a dealer in Boston wants to exchange a blue Camry LE for a black Camry XLE and a dealer in Chicago has a black Camry XLE and wants a blue Camry LE, then the computer can simply swap the dealer assignments. If this online swap is successful, then the virtual swap is made and both dealers will be notified.
    • If the above swap is not available, then the changes are sent to the manufacturing computer system that checks to ensure that the change can be made without exceeding any of the manufacturing constraints. Each assembly plant establishes a fluctuation allowance for each vehicle option, including color. Each dealer change request is systematically evaluated to make sure that none of the allowances are exceeded. If the change is accepted, the vehicle specifications are changed and the result is sent back to the dealer via the sales company. Also, the dealer will be notified if the change cannot be accepted, so the dealer can modify it or leave it in a pending status to be reprocessed the next day. Vehicles changed at the factory are usually delivered in 30 to 40 days."

ok, i get that.. what about the guy above who just stated he "ordered" a cement double cab ,rwd, with only LED headlamps? because the way he ordered and without all the exra bells and whistles but a sport model with LEDs for $33K was is literally where i would want to be OTD on a tacoma.

Off topic - I'm shocked you've owned 12 tacomas so far.
