That can get muddy as well. Kind of depends. Floor mats have value so yeah maybe but they’re highly inflated in price. Paint protection film I think is a rip and same thing with Toyoguard. Nitrogen in the tires and crap like that definitely not

Mine had the windows tinted and done well at a reputable local shop but the dealer charged $400 for that. It would’ve cost 200.

I bought my 2020 Tacoma TRD Offroad with a manual transmission in April for a total of $35,752

    2020 Tacoma $34,350
    Desert Package 898
    Tire Disposal Fee 5
    Doc Fee 499
    Total $35,752

I left off the sales tax for obvious reasons.

And because I felt like I was getting the run-around I had the dealer throw in a set of Ditch lights(w/brackets), all-weather mats, and a blackout kit. I sold the blackout kit.

Paid $39k for my Trd premium sport 4x4 dcsb w/ technology package last week. Sticker price was over $44k. Don’t think I did too bad considering it was literally the only new Tacoma i could find in a 100 mile radius.

    How is this offer:

2020 Tacoma LIMITED 4x2 with cover, bed light, step tubes, tailgate lock, and exhaust tip - MSRP 42,146 - they are offering it for $38,126 (after rebate BEFORE TT&L)- that includes some dealer crap (tint, nitrogen, etc) charges they wont remove. That would be almost 10% off MSRP. Vehicle is in Texas. Thoughts?

    Thanks!

I didn't even know you could get a Limited with 4x2! Thought they were fully loaded like the Pros with everything, just with chrome and no extra lift. I ran the Limited through the builder and the most I could get a 4x2 up to was just under $40K (without tonneau), which included the $1175 delivery fee. How are they getting $42K MSRP on that? A bunch of dealer add-ons? [edit: I just re-read and see that does include some crappy add-ons. Yay for reading!]

Overall if the MSRP is $42K, and you are OK with whatever that includes, then $38K puts you close to 10% off. It would be nice to be there BEFORE rebate, but in this economic climate and shortage, I think that is pretty good.

If you really need a truck now, than you should go for it. If it's not a necessity then wait. I wouldn't pay for a truck with the bed lights, step tubes or tonneau cover already installed. The dealers upcharge the prices on those 50% or more to have them at the time of purchase. You can easily buy those afterwards from a dealership and install them in less than an hour. There are great deals for tonneaus through TW forum vendors for half the cost of the OEM.
I definitely wouldn't pay for nitrogen filled tires and tint. If they refuse to remove those charges I would walk, just out of principle.
Also if you only need a 4x2, you could look at the SR5. Save a lot of money to do the mods you want.

If they like and want the OEM tonneau, they pretty much have to buy it out of the gate when the truck is new. If they don't mind or even prefer an after market one, then sure they can do it themselves pretty easily. I agree on bed lights and step bars though, they are very simple to do yourself.

If they are looking at Limiteds, I don't think the concern is 4x2 vs. 4x4. I'd imagine it is all the extra features that it offers. Recommending an SR5 is very odd as a replacement for a Limited. It would be very difficult and expensive to "mod" dual zone climate control, sunroof, and other features like that that the Limited gets you...

It's not that odd, a lot of people overlook the SR5 and just look at fully loaded trims.

I bought my 2018 Sport 4X4 through Costco. I would highly recommend you all check it out. They pre negotiated $4k off sticker price, then discounted all extra parts down 20%. All around solid program.

I mean I guess there are people out there like that, but if they can't be arsed enough to do a quick Google search or spend a couple minutes on the Toyota build tool to figure out the differences in trims and pricing on a ~$40K purchase, then I'm not going to bother. I assume if they are motivated enough to be on TW making a post, they'll at least have done that basic research.

The Costco program is great for those that don't want to hassle with haggling and the "dealer experience", but unfortunately the issue right now is more with the pandemic shutdowns and stock levels being almost completely depleted, making it very hard to find a dealer willing to move much off MSRP, even for Costco.

I don't think this logic applies to all dealerships as my local dealer in Austin, TX has 52 tacos in stock.

By doing your research especially on this site. No dealer if not few are giving the "Costco" pricing right now. We are in a different season right now - especially with Tacomas.
