I just wasn't sure if they had some weird way of saying it was built in US even if it was built in Baja/Tijuana....not a big deal to me, just curious really

Dumb question. Is COVID pushing up the prices of new tacos? I know that the used market for them is hot right now.

There is very low inventory so I would assume so, definitely so on used ones. I think my 19 Pro is more now with 10k is going for the same price I paid for it on the used market.

They kind of do. I had multiple dealers tell me "This Tacoma is being built in California" or "This is a California truck". Obviously failing to specify they were talking about the the Mexican State of Baja California. Made little difference to me but thought it was pretty funny. I have read a few things here and there about subpar QA coming out of the Baja plant but I think those were 2016-2017 trucks. Wonder if it's still the case.

I don't usually assume built in USA always means better quality, heck, I worked in a GM truck/bus plant right after high school in the late 90s,,,and I installed a months worth of chevy blazers tailgate wiring harnesses without anybody actually showing me how to do it correctly,,,,all i really knew is i better not stop the line! so, if you had wiring issues in your 98 blazer, my bad !

I'd agree, built in the USA doesn't necessarily mean better...look at Boeing . Unfortunately it's politics and profits that come over safety in the US.

I ran into this exactly, and ultimately only one dealer would do that and commit to a price in advance.

Same here. Most dealers told me they could not negotiate on a vehicle that they did not have on their lot so i would have to agree to full MSRP in order for them to bring it in. They would also tell me that the manuals are "rare" and I would be lucky to get $500 off msrp. In the time span of about 1.5 months, I negotiated on a total of 6 manuals that were in stock at different dealers across 3 states so they are out there to be had. I could have negotiated on more but they were not in my color choices or they had the orange interior or had the premium package. I ended up getting a cement OR d-cab 6pd manual with tech package which was one of my top 2 choices. I did settle on options which the only option i wanted that this did not have was the LED headlights. Other than the LED's, everything else was exact. I figured once all taco's start coming with LED's, prices should go down and I could put the OEM LED's on at a later date. I ended up with a discount of $4083 off of MSRP on my truck on 8/29/20. Which we all know that during the time frame of my purchase, prices were crazy high and inventory was crazy low so I felt decent about the purchase and to me, it was not worth the wait to get the LED headlights as who knows how much more i would have paid for a $485 option.

Local dealer has 5 newly arrived 2020 Tacomas on the lot (including a TRD Pro) with 5 more incoming. They also have a few 2021 4Runners coming in.

Paid $33k for a 2020 DCSB TRD OR 4x4 back in December. Only option was the LED headlights.

Paid $48K OTD for a new 2020 TRD Pro Army Green MT. I got very lucky and found one and they were willing to move it quickly. They also gave me $5k more for my trade than I was expecting. What dealers are paying for used vehicles are insane.

I want to know who’s buying used at these prices. Even pre covid the used Tacoma’s were only a few K off new—it factored heavily into my decision to buy new.

Exactly. According to KBB, my 2020 is worth more than I paid for it in July

Worked a deal on a DCLB cement OR 4x4 MSRP $40,120 to $38,300. Not bad from what I’ve seen, the main advantage was the trade in, I got $3k more than I paid for my trade back in Jan 2020

Trade ins are crazy high right now... but I couldn’t see a reason to buy a price inflated used truck

What do you guys think about this deal? This is a bone stock tacoma OR 2020 4x4 short bed double cab automatic. The colorado package (lol) is basically tint and clear bra. And yes, taxes are kinda crazy out here in California.

    Appreciate the help!
