I agree. Keep shopping. There are deals on 2020s. These are not THAT freaking special. If you like the AppleCar Play, get the 2020. Should be less than 1K diff and much less hassle.

The "invoice" difference is about $1k difference it really depends on if the dealership is in need of selling that truck or not. In this area the 2020's are selling faster then they can get them in (I cannot believe this is an isolated issue only for WA as Toyota opened a new plant just to keep up with volume) so they have zero incentive to reduce price below MSRP, though some still will.. like they did with me but I am also a long time client of their Ford dealership (same owner).

It really comes down to if you like the power seats and carplay, to me that was WELL worth the $1k difference, I passed on Tacoma's up to this point due to their lack of tech.

Yep, same here. Dealer here in PA had plenty of 2020s. A little limited on some colors like the Blue and Reds. I got a "Cement" gray, wanted the Blue, but that was the costs of making a deal on black Friday for some extra incentives.

I'm looking at a 2020 Cement TRD Off-Road, not in stock. The MSRP is $45,474.00. The dealer is standing firm at $42,125.00 plus TT&L. Your thoughts?

IMO you should be able to do better than that. My MSRP was very close to that and I was in the $39k range plus tax and license. Seems a good deal is 10-12% off window MSRP. Obviously different regions will be a little different, but SoCal is notoriously one of the toughest on the Tacoma, so I would think you should be able to do just as well if not better (especially since it’s not in stock). I would find another dealer. Have you checked Costco pricing?

Have you checked dealers around you?

When I went to look for my Tacoma OR Prem with Tech I wanted the Desert(?, the tan one) color but all they had was a voodoo blue and red so I was going to walk and try another but they offered a "discount" on the Voodoo one.

It really depends on the dealer, what they have, how many they have sold... dealers make a lot of their money from Toyota incentives on pure volume however if they already have the volume they are not afraid to turn a few customers if they feel they can sell it to the next buyer that comes in.

Around here Toyota is in a very good spot right now as more buyers then trucks.

Thanks for the feedback, I appreciate it. No i have not checked Costco pricing but will surely check.
Yes I've checked with most of my local dealers. For whatever reason the local dealers are not willing to negotiate much on 2020's. Houston Texas area.

They most likely have no incentive to deal right now, currently they have more buyers then trucks I am guessing and they know it will sell to the next person. Beginning of the new model roll out is a bad time to get really good deals in most places.

2020s just came out. Patience is key. Keep checking around and be willing to go out of your local area a bit. I had lease price of over $100 a month difference between two local dealers. The guy who was high wouldn't budge and told me the other dealer was "losing 5K" and told me to go buy it if I could. (I did). Now that we are past Black Friday, you would best to wait till the last few days of the year. If they have something you want on the lot, they get extra incentives at the end of the year and they pay taxes on inventory, so there is more incentive to make the deal. Always be willing to walk. Leave your info. Most salesman will hit a lull and then they will start digging through the "trash" for a customer and often come back to you with a little better deal. Make sure they know you are serious and then take a walk. Most people won't do this. It takes cool nerves to wait them out, and they know it. You really have to tell yourself you can live without it, and then that will come through.

I personally try to be friendly with the sales folks. Tell them about myself, find out a bit about them. Being kind but uncommitted goes a long way. A lot of folks are just jerks. Don't be a jerk. I've bought my sales people coffee, lunch, offered rides, basically try to turn the tables. I tell them about my car search, the other "jerk" dealers, the deals I walked away from, the competitors I'm considering. While I was shopping this time, I went to a Ford dealer, and checked out a Ranger. I told the guy I wasn't going to decide on the truck until I checked out the new Tacoma. We ended up going over to the Toyota dealer in HIS Ranger to check out a Tacoma! When we got done, the Ford salesman had to admit the Tacoma was a nicer truck for the money. Hilarious! But it takes time. Some people hate shopping for cars. I actually enjoy it.

If you’re willing to drive a bit, I got my 2020 TRD Pro at Greg Leblanc in Houma, LA. Sticker was $49,499 and got it for $45,999. Lakeside Toyota in Metairie was also willing to meet that price on exact same truck. I know you’re not in the market for a Pro, but there are dealers willing to deal. Just have to find them.

Thanks for the words of wisdom, I appreciate it. I've been extremely kind with the sales person I'm working with, not to mention that this would be my 2nd Tacoma purchase from the same dealer and sales person. I don't need the new truck. I just want it. But seeing as how I don't need it, I'm willing to walk away and not purchase at this time. Thanks again for the reply.

Check that thread out and page 22 of this thread. I was labeled as someone "claiming" to beat a price. I can't really prove anything until I get my taco and the paper works in a few weeks. Work smarter, not harder.

I've been shopping around for a few weeks, mostly via internet. Visited a few dealers and felt like I was getting pretty close. I scored a 2020 TRD Sport Crew Cab V6 Auto Loaded. Premium Sport Package, Advanced Technology Package, LED, Door Sill Protectors, Chrome Exhaust Tip and Mudguards. MSRP $44,578. Offered for $39,987 Plus Tax Title Ect. I got $29,500 for my 2016 with 8500 miles. This is the price PRIOR to any rebates which are in effect when the truck is delivered. Dealer will order per my specs.

No, just the smaller center window is powered slide in some double cabs.

I'd love it if they'd offer the Tundra rear window slide down option in the taco

Did you pay $34k for a Limited or a SR5 (which is listed under your name)?
